I'm planning a trip to the Admiral Casino next month and I've heard mixed reviews about the slot machines. Specifically, I'm trying to figure out if the video poker machines are worth the time, or if I should stick to table games like blackjack. Has anyone been there in the last few weeks who could give an honest assessment of the current atmosphere? I'm mainly concerned about the payout rates and whether the service has declined since the renovations. Any advice on which area of the casino to focus on would be hugely appreciated.

I went last week. Blackjack tables are great, but the video poker payout rates are definitely lower than they used to be. Stick to the tables.

The service has improved dramatically since the renovations, honestly. The staff were very attentive, even during peak hours. I spent most of my time at the high-limit blackjack area and had a fantastic time. Don't worry about the decline.

Short answer: Blackjack. Hands down. The slot area felt a bit stale when I visited.

Hey, I was there about three weeks ago. I found the atmosphere decent, but the slot machines seemed overly programmed to lose. I spent a good chunk of money on video poker and barely broke even. Maybe try the new wing near the entrance; they have different machines.

Totally agree with the video poker assessment. I spent an hour on it and felt like I was just feeding money into a black hole. Blackjack is where the action is.

Has anyone noticed if the payout rates are generally worse on weekends compared to weekdays? I'm trying to plan my visit for a lower-traffic time to maximize my chances.

I think the payout rates fluctuate wildly. It really depends on which specific table or machine you hit. I recommend asking a floor manager about the current comps structure before you commit to a game.

I'd focus on the gaming floor near the main atrium. It's quieter, and the blackjack dealers there seemed much more knowledgeable and friendly than those in the back corner.

The service was okay, but definitely not five-star. It felt a little impersonal. Maybe check out the casino bar for a break; it was a nice change of pace from the machines.

Reply to the service decline concern: I found the service to be fine, but the machines themselves felt outdated. It's a mix of old and new equipment, which is confusing. Just be prepared for varying levels of tech.

Go for the blackjack, but also check out the specialty slot tournaments they run. Sometimes the bonus payout is worth the risk, even if the base rate is low.
