I've been doing some deep diving into vintage gaming machines and keep coming across references to 'Venetian slots.' I'm trying to figure out if this refers to a specific manufacturer, a geographical style of game, or maybe a particular era of Italian-inspired casino games. I've seen pictures of very ornate, mechanical-looking machines, but I can't find any reliable information on where they originated or how they operated. If anyone has experience with these, or knows where I could find more detailed schematics or historical articles, I would really appreciate the help. Thanks in advance!

It's most likely referring to the elaborate, highly decorative style of Italian-influenced gaming machines from the mid-20th century. They were known for their ornate casework and complex mechanical movements, far beyond simple reels. These weren't necessarily 'slots' in the modern electronic sense, but electromechanical devices that drew heavy inspiration from Venetian carnival aesthetics. Finding schematics is tough, though, as many were custom-built or localized pieces.
