I finally managed to get my hands on the Firelink Plus last week, and while the initial setup seemed straightforward, I'm running into some connectivity problems. It keeps dropping the signal every few hours, and I've already tried updating the firmware and moving the unit to a central location. I'm using it with a multi-room audio system, and the drops are really disruptive. Has anyone successfully integrated this unit with a Sonos setup, or is there a specific configuration I should be looking into? Any tips on optimizing the signal strength would be greatly appreciated.

Check your router's QoS settings. Sometimes the streaming bandwidth gets throttled by other devices on the network. It's a common culprit for intermittent drops.

I had the exact same issue with signal dropping. My fix was completely isolating the Firelink Plus on a dedicated, wired Ethernet connection. Wi-Fi just isn't reliable enough for multi-room audio streaming, especially if you have thick walls or interference from microwaves. It made zero difference once I wired it up.

Did you try power cycling the entire network (router, switches, Firelink) in sequence? Sometimes the network stack just needs a hard reboot to clear up old connection errors.

I'm having trouble with the Sonos integration too. I think the issue might be the subnet mask on the main router. Have you checked if all your audio components are on the same broadcast domain? It's a niche networking thing, but it fixes everything.

Totally agree with the wired connection advice. It was a lifesaver for me. I was relying on Wi-Fi and it was unbearable. Ethernet is the only way to go for this setup.

Regarding Sonos, I found that setting the Firelink Plus to use a specific, static IP address helped immensely. It prevented DHCP conflicts and made the connection much more stable when other devices were joining or leaving the network. Give that a shot!

What model router are you using? Sometimes the router's age or firmware can be the bottleneck, even if it seems fine otherwise. A simple router upgrade might solve the stability issues.

I think the problem might be related to the physical placement of the unit. Even if you moved it centrally, are there any major appliances like refrigerators or large metal shelving units nearby? They can interfere with the signal strength significantly.

The static IP suggestion is good. I hadn't thought about DHCP conflicts, but I'll try setting that up tonight. Thanks for the tip!

Also, make sure your firmware is updated *before* trying to integrate with Sonos. The Firelink Plus sometimes requires the latest patch to properly handshake with the Sonos API. It's a sequence issue, not just a connectivity issue.

I'm using a Mesh system, and the signal drops were constant until I set up a dedicated wired backhaul for the Firelink. It completely bypassed the mesh nodes and went straight to the main switch. Seriously, ditch the wireless for this unit.
