I finally made it to Monaco and spent an afternoon at the Casino. Honestly, the sheer scale and luxury are overwhelming, but I'm not sure if the experience matches the hype. I spent most of my time at the table games, specifically the roulette, and the atmosphere was incredible, but it felt very intimidating for a first-timer. I found the dress code quite strict, which was unexpected. If you are planning a trip, I recommend booking a day package in advance and maybe asking for a basic orientation on the games. Overall, it's an expensive day out, but the service was impeccable, even if I didn't win much.

The dress code is brutal, isn't it? I wore a nice blazer and felt underdressed compared to some people.

Totally agree about the scale. It feels less like a casino and more like a luxury resort complex. It's definitely an 'experience' you pay for, even if the gambling part is secondary.

Did you try the other games? I found the high-stakes poker room fascinating, even if I didn't play. The sheer opulence of the room itself is worth a visit.

I found the orientation package invaluable. As a total novice, I felt completely lost at the start. Seriously, book it. It saves so much stress.

It is incredibly expensive. I spent a small amount and felt like I wasted a fortune just getting there and having dinner. Maybe a day trip to Nice would be more budget-friendly.

Reply to the previous post: @[User] I think the intimidation factor is part of the appeal, though. It makes the wins feel even bigger when you finally manage to play a hand. It's part of the high-roller vibe.

I spent an evening there last year. The service was impeccable, as you said. The staff anticipates everything. It's flawless, but also very impersonal, which is a strange mix.

I'm glad you went! I've been debating if it's worth the trip. Knowing the service is top-notch helps me justify the cost. Thanks for the review.

Reply to the previous post: @[User] I disagree that it's impersonal. The staff were genuinely friendly and helpful, especially the people working at the roulette wheel. They were very patient with me.

I recommend going mid-week. Weekends are absolutely packed and the crowds make it feel overwhelming, even more so than the luxury itself.

If you're worried about the games, just stick to the low-stakes areas initially. Don't feel pressured to jump into the high-roller section just because it's there. Take it slow.

Reply to the previous post: @[User] I agree about the day package. It really structures the visit and gives you a sense of purpose beyond just wandering around looking fancy. It's a lifesaver for first-timers.

Overall, it's a bucket list item, I think. Don't go expecting to win big, but go for the sheer architectural and cultural spectacle. It's a must-see, even if it's pricey.
