I've been going to MGM for a while now, and I understand the basics of the Players Card levels, but I'm confused about the best strategy for hitting the next tier. Does it really matter if I play high-limit slots versus playing table games like blackjack? I'm trying to figure out if focusing my spending on one type of activity gives better points multipliers or if a balanced approach is better. Also, are there specific promotions I should be watching out for that help bridge the gap between levels? Any advice from people who have successfully climbed the ladder would be greatly appreciated!

Honestly, the sheer volume of play matters more than the type. Just play a lot, and the points will stack up.

I found that focusing on table games, specifically blackjack, actually generated a better return on points per dollar spent for me. The multipliers seemed more consistent than the slot machine comps.

Don't forget to check the MGM website for current promotions. They often run 'bonus point days' or multipliers for specific activities, which can be the fastest way to bridge a gap.

High-limit slots are great for visibility, but if you are trying to maximize points without spending a fortune, stick to the lower-stakes table games. It's a much more efficient grind.

Are you talking about the standard points system, or the bonus points? Because sometimes the bonus points are tied to specific spending thresholds that are totally different from the main comps.

I agree with the table game focus. I used to think slots were king, but the comp structure for blackjack felt much more generous per hour of play.

What about the casino buffet? Does that count towards any points, or is it just for eating?

The buffet is generally just for eating, but sometimes they run 'Spend $X and get Y bonus points' promotions that include dining. Always ask a bellman or a player services agent.

My best tip is to play during off-peak hours. The staff are more willing to manually adjust comps or give you insider info on upcoming promotions.

I found that playing a mix, but always prioritizing table games when I was close to a tier. It seemed to give me the necessary boost without having to commit to high-stakes slots.

Has anyone noticed if the points system resets or changes significantly between different MGM properties? I was at the T-Mobile and the rules felt slightly different than the Grand.

Yes, definitely. The Grand seemed to have a more robust points structure overall. I think it's property-specific, so check the details for the location you are going to.

Short answer: Balance is key. Don't neglect the slots entirely, but don't rely on them either. Use them strategically.

I'd recommend checking out the 'Players Card Lounge' area if they have one. Sometimes they offer exclusive point bonuses just for hanging out there and playing a few rounds.

I'm confused about the multipliers. Does playing $1,000 in blackjack count the same as playing $1,000 in slots for points?

It's not exactly the same, but the difference is subtle. The comps are generally weighted towards the perceived 'value' of the game. High-stakes table games often carry a higher perceived value for comp purposes.

Always ask the pit boss or a player services representative. They know the current promotions better than anyone. Don't be shy about asking questions!

Just treat it like a game itself. Set a spending goal for the week, and then adjust your play style to hit that goal efficiently. Good luck climbing!
