We are planning a trip to Hilton Aruba Caribbean Resort next fall and I'm feeling overwhelmed by the sheer number of things to do. Does anyone who has stayed there recently have advice on which beaches are best for young kids, especially considering the waves? Also, regarding activities, are the excursions organized through the resort really worth it, or should we book local tours independently? We are particularly interested in snorkeling and finding some good spots for casual dining that aren't overly touristy. Any tips on saving money or maximizing our time would be greatly appreciated!

For young kids, Palm Beach area is perfect. The waves are generally gentle and the sand is fine. Definitely check out the resort's own beach area first, it's protected.

Regarding excursions, I'd mix it up. Book the main snorkeling trip through the resort for ease, but for dinner, use local ride-shares and explore areas away from the main strip. You save money and get a more authentic feel.

Short and sweet: Arikok side is rugged, but the snorkeling is incredible. Bring good shoes.

I agree about the local dining! We found a fantastic spot called 'Papi's Corner' near the southern end of the island. It was casual, delicious, and totally un-touristy. We loved it.

Does anyone know if renting a car is necessary? We are worried about parking and navigating the island with a stroller and two car seats. The resort shuttle seemed sufficient for our needs.

Totally worth it to book the snorkeling trip through the resort, even if it costs more. They handle all the gear and logistics, which is a huge stress reducer when traveling with small children. Just confirm they use a reputable boat.

I think the resort excursions are generally good for convenience, but if you want to save money, try booking a reputable local tour operator online a few weeks before you arrive. You'll get better prices and often a more personalized experience.

We found that maximizing time meant doing one big activity per day and leaving the rest free for pool time or just relaxing on the beach. Don't overschedule yourselves!

If you are focused on snorkeling, don't just stick to the resort beach. Take a boat trip out towards the reefs further north. The visibility was amazing and the fish were vibrant. It was a huge improvement over just swimming near the hotel.

I disagree that the resort is the only option for good food. While the main strip is touristy, there are several small, family-run restaurants tucked away in the residential areas. Ask a local guide for recommendations, they know the hidden gems.

Tip for saving money: Pack snacks and drinks for the beach. Buying everything from the resort or local shops adds up incredibly fast. Also, look for deals on local bus passes if you plan on doing a lot of sightseeing.

The best beach for young kids is definitely the calm bay area near the resort. The gentle slope means easy wading, and the water quality is consistently excellent. Just bring plenty of sun protection!
