I'm having a really frustrating time trying to stream content on Prime Video lately. It keeps buffering every few minutes, even when I'm connected to a stable 5G Wi-Fi network. I've already tried clearing my cache and updating the app on both my smart TV and my phone, but the problem persists. Has anyone else noticed this slowdown recently, or is there a specific setting I might be missing? I'm trying to watch a movie tonight and it's making the experience impossible. Any advice on troubleshooting this would be greatly appreciated.

Have you tried switching from Wi-Fi to mobile data temporarily? Sometimes the router itself can be the bottleneck, even if the signal strength looks good.

I had this exact issue last month. The fix was simple: completely unplugging the router and the modem for a full five minutes. Don't just restart them, actually power cycle them. It clears out residual network errors that often cause streaming hiccups.

If you are on Wi-Fi, I strongly recommend checking if your router supports a specific QoS (Quality of Service) setting. You might need to manually prioritize streaming traffic for Prime Video. Also, check if any other devices on your network are running massive downloads or updates simultaneously, as this will steal bandwidth and cause constant buffering. Sometimes the problem isn't Prime Video, but the sheer number of devices competing for the limited bandwidth. If possible, try connecting your streaming device via an Ethernet cable instead of Wi-Fi to rule out wireless interference.

Lower the stream quality setting.

I agree about the router. Before messing with DNS or QoS, just try connecting the TV directly via Ethernet. If the buffering stops, then the issue is definitely wireless interference or your router's internal processing power. It's a common oversight.

For Smart TVs, sometimes the operating system itself needs a deep clean. Go into the TV's settings and run a full factory reset of the streaming app, not just clearing the cache. It forces a fresh connection handshake with the service, which often resolves persistent glitches that simple updates miss.

Has anyone checked if Amazon is experiencing a regional service degradation? Sometimes, during peak viewing hours or due to infrastructure maintenance, the streaming service itself throttles bandwidth to prevent overload. Check Twitter or dedicated tech forums to see if other users in your city are reporting similar slowdowns. If it's a service-side issue, all you can do is wait for Amazon to fix it. Also, consider if your ISP is doing any form of content filtering or throttling that might affect video streams.

Me too! It's been terrible for days. I thought it was my setup, but maybe it's a general slowdown in the region right now. Thanks for the advice.

Try a wired connection if you can.

Also, check your account details. Sometimes, if there are billing issues or if you are on a limited data plan (if applicable), the streaming quality or availability can be restricted. Make sure your subscription is active and in good standing.

Did you try restarting the TV's internal power source? Not just turning it off with the remote, but unplugging it from the wall socket for 60 seconds. It's a different kind of reset that clears out temporary memory errors specific to the TV's internal hardware, which can sometimes manifest as streaming failure.

If none of the above works, the problem is almost certainly upstream, meaning it's your Internet Service Provider (ISP). Call them and ask them to run a line diagnostic test specifically for high-bandwidth streaming. Do not accept a simple 'everything is fine' answer. Insist they check the connection stability and throughput to your modem. They might need to adjust the signal strength coming into your home.

If the buffering is only happening on the TV, try downloading the movie or episode through the Prime Video app on your phone first, and then streaming it from there. This bypasses the TV's network stack entirely and confirms if the issue is localized to the smart TV hardware or the overall network.
