My partner and I are planning a trip to the city next month and the Sheraton is recommended for its buffet. I've seen pictures of the spread, and it looks massive, but I'm worried about the actual value for money. Has anyone been recently who can give an honest review? Specifically, I'm curious about the quality of the seafood section and if the desserts are genuinely good, or just standard hotel fare. Also, knowing the peak hours helps - should we go for breakfast or dinner to avoid the biggest crowds? Any tips would be greatly appreciated!

I went last month for a weekend trip, and honestly, it was decent but definitely not 'worth the hype' unless you're celebrating something major. The sheer size of the buffet is impressive, but quality control seems inconsistent. The main courses are fine, but you really have to navigate the crowd to find the good stuff. I'd budget for a nice dinner elsewhere if you're focused purely on value.

Definitely go for breakfast. If you go at dinner, the crowd is overwhelming, and the food gets cold fast. Aim for 9:30 AM - 10:30 AM to beat the worst of the rush.

The seafood section is okay, but don't expect premium quality. It's standard hotel fare - decent variety of shrimp and smoked salmon, but nothing that will make you rave about it. Stick to the continental items if you want reliable quality.

Regarding desserts, they are definitely standard hotel fare. There's a huge selection, which is nice, but the taste profile is very safe and predictable. If you want something truly memorable, maybe save your dessert budget for a local patisserie instead.

Totally agree. It's massive, but the value is questionable.

I found the seafood quite disappointing, actually. It tasted a little overcooked and the variety was limited to basic smoked fish. I think the neighboring hotel has a much better, fresher selection if that's your priority.

If you are looking for the absolute best value, I'd suggest checking out the buffet at the Grand Hyatt nearby. It has a slightly different focus, and I found the meat carving station there to be much higher quality than the Sheraton's. It's worth the short walk to compare.

Mid-afternoon, around 2 PM, is surprisingly quiet. You can get a good bite without the dinner rush madness.

Yeah, the desserts are just fine, but nothing special. I was hoping for something gourmet, but it was all very predictable.

I disagree about the Grand Hyatt. While their buffet is nice, the Sheraton has a better overall ambiance and the sheer scale of the offerings is unmatched. It's a bit more of an experience than just the food itself.

Overall, if you are traveling with family and want a low-stress, high-variety meal without worrying about finding a reservation, it's worth it. But if you are foodies looking for Michelin-star quality, you might be disappointed. It's a solid, reliable choice for a big group meal.
