I've been doing some deep diving into niche tabletop RPGs and I keep running into the term 'Casino Knight.' It sounds like a wild mix of high-stakes gambling and medieval fantasy elements, which is intriguing. I'm trying to figure out if this is a specific published game, or maybe a module for a larger system like D&D or Fate. If it is a game, what's the general gameplay loop like? I'm hoping to find something that balances the luck of the draw with actual character skill and combat. Any links or recommendations would be hugely appreciated!

I think you might be mixing up a few different concepts. There isn't a widely known published game called 'Casino Knight.'

Wait, I remember something similar! It might be a homebrew concept or maybe a module for a specific indie system. Have you checked the 'rpg-niche' subreddits?

If you're looking for high-stakes gambling mixed with fantasy, you should look into games like 'The Masquerade' or maybe something from the 'Powered by the Apocalypse' engine. Those handle social tension really well, which is probably what you're after.

Short answer: I haven't heard of it. Maybe it's a very localized or defunct Kickstarter project? Check BoardGameGeek for obscure titles.

A 'Casino Knight' sounds amazing! If it exists, I bet the gameplay loop involves rolling dice to bet your character's reputation or even their health points. It sounds like a blend of Yahtzee and combat.

I found a mention of it, but it was just a fan-made TTRPG concept on a private Discord server. It's not commercially available, sadly.

You should check out 'Fate Accelerated.' It's incredibly flexible, and you could easily build a 'Casino Knight' concept around the skills and aspects. You'd handle the gambling mechanics yourself using custom dice.

Reply to the user above: Yeah, Fate is great, but for the high-stakes combat focus you mentioned, I'd actually lean towards something more structured, like a modified World of Darkness system. It gives you that grit.

I once played a game that had similar mechanics. It was called 'High Roller Heist.' It was more board game focused, involving card draws and risk management, but the combat was minimal.

I'm going to try searching for 'gambling fantasy RPG' combined with 'indie game' keywords. Hopefully, that will narrow down the search enough to find what you're looking for.

Reply to the user who suggested Fate: While Fate is flexible, it requires a lot of prep work. If you want a ready-to-play box, look at 'Dead Man's Hand' - it has a lot of desperation and risk elements.

I think the name might be corrupted. Could you possibly remember where you heard it? Was it a convention, a YouTube video, or a specific forum?

If you enjoy the mix of luck and skill, consider 'Blades in the Dark.' It's a narrative game about criminal syndicates, and while not gambling-focused, the tension and skill checks are phenomenal. You'll feel the risk every time.

I've seen art referencing it, but it seems to be a concept piece rather than a published game. Keep digging into concept art sites, maybe the creator posted a link somewhere.
