I was clearing out some old garden decorations and found a bunch of acorns. My grandmother always used to tell me that finding a perfect, unusually large acorn meant something good was coming that year, almost like a little nature-based good luck charm. I've heard it mentioned in local folklore circles, but I'm not sure if it's just a cute family tradition or if there's any real basis to it. Has anyone else in the area experienced this? I'd love to hear if this is a genuine local belief or just something I should probably forget about.

I actually grew up near a community that really emphasized this. They had specific rituals involving the acorns, like carving symbols into them. It felt very genuine, almost like a seasonal marker for prosperity. I'm not sure if it's still practiced widely, but it was a huge part of our local culture. It's fascinating how these simple objects can become tied to deep cultural beliefs. I remember my grandfather telling us that if you found a perfectly intact acorn, it meant a harvest free of blight. It sounds like your grandmother was tapping into a real vein of local folklore.

Replying to the user above: I think it's more than just hyperbole. My friend who lives out in the woods swore that if you found a cluster of three acorns together, you were guaranteed good luck for the whole year. It sounds silly, but she's been having amazing luck ever since.

I don't know about local folklore, but I do know that my grandmother used to say that if you found an acorn that had fallen from a specific type of oak tree (the white oak), it meant strong family ties. It was a very specific rule, and I'm not sure if it's still accurate.

I think the belief is tied to the cyclical nature of life and death, which is something many ancient cultures focused on. The acorn represents potential and rebirth, which is a powerful symbol in itself. It's less about magic and more about deep symbolism. I'd love to hear more about your grandmother's stories if you remember them!
