Anyone else notice a change in Paulson Chips' seasoning lately?

I've been buying Paulson chips for years, and I always loved the classic salt and vinegar flavor. However, I feel like the last few bags I've purchased have been noticeably weaker in flavor compared to what they used to be. Maybe it's just me, but the zing seems much less potent. Has anyone else noticed this, or perhaps switched to a different flavor that tastes better? I'm trying to decide if I should switch brands or if I just need to find a better batch.

Oh my gosh, you are not alone! I bought a bag yesterday and it tasted super bland. I swear they watered down the seasoning.

I think it might be the batch, honestly. Sometimes brands have quality control issues. Maybe try a different store location?

Totally agree. The zing is definitely missing. I used to buy these every week, but I've started switching to Kettle Brand instead. They seem much more consistent in flavor.

Seriously? I thought it was just my palate adjusting. I'm sticking with Paulson for now, but I might try the sour cream and onion flavor just to see if the issue is flavor specific.

Reply to User 3: @User 3, I tried Kettle Brand too, but I miss the specific tang of Paulson. It's a bummer when your favorite snack changes.

Maybe it's the oil they use? Sometimes a change in the frying process can affect how the seasoning adheres. It's frustrating when a beloved snack declines.

I found that if you rinse the chips slightly before eating them, it helps bring out some of the flavor. Don't laugh, but it worked for me! It's a weird hack.

Reply to Original Poster: It's definitely not just you. My partner and I noticed the same thing last week. I think they changed the seasoning blend entirely. It's a huge letdown.

Have you tried the spicy chili flavor? Sometimes switching to a stronger flavor helps distract you from the perceived blandness of the classic one.

I'm going to switch brands too. I've been loving the chips from the local artisan shop down the street. They use real vinegar and it's incredible. Worth the extra money!

Reply to User 1: @User 1, I think it's more than just the batch. I remember when they used to use a whole lot more actual vinegar powder. It feels like they've cut corners on ingredients.

Maybe it's seasonal? Sometimes brands adjust recipes based on what's trending or what ingredients are cheaper. It's a tough pill to swallow for a snack.

I'm going back to the supermarket brand chips. They are cheaper and honestly, the flavor profile is surprisingly close to what Paulson used to be. Don't feel bad about switching!

I've been buying them for years, and I think the market just gets saturated. They probably got complacent. I'll wait a month and see if they adjust, but otherwise, I'm giving up on them for now.
