My partner and I are visiting New York City next month and we are really hoping to spend a day relaxing by a nice pool. We are open to suggestions, whether it's a fancy hotel pool or maybe a more public rooftop option. We are looking for something that feels a little escape-y, not just a quick dip. Does anyone have experience with specific pools that are great for lounging and swimming? We are particularly interested in knowing about the general vibe and if reservations are necessary, especially on weekends. Any insider tips on avoiding the biggest crowds would be greatly appreciated.

The Pool at The Langham is gorgeous. It feels secluded, even though it's in Manhattan. Definitely book a day pass if you can.

If you want an escape vibe, look into The Greenwich Hotel. Their pool area is stunning and feels very private. Just be prepared for it to be pricey.

The Moxy Chelsea pool is fun, but maybe not 'escape-y' enough. It's more of a lively party vibe, which might be what you want if you don't mind crowds.

I highly recommend The Roosevelt Hotel. Their pool is massive and usually less crowded than the super trendy spots. It's a solid, reliable option for lounging.

Have you looked at the rooftop pools in Brooklyn? Sometimes they offer better views and a more relaxed atmosphere than the Midtown options.

Totally agree about avoiding crowds. Try visiting on a weekday early afternoon. Weekends are brutal everywhere.

The EDITION pool in TriBeCa is beautiful, but it can get super packed. If you go, arrive right when they open to snag a good lounge chair.

For a true 'escape,' consider a hotel slightly outside of Manhattan, maybe in Jersey City or Long Island City. The vibe is completely different and much more chill.

The Langham is great, but I found that getting a reservation for a day pass is key. I called weeks ahead and booked a specific time slot.

Short answer: The proper pool. Seriously. It's less known than the big flashy ones, but it has incredible views and a very relaxed, non-party atmosphere. Check their website for day pass info.

I think the vibe depends on what you consider 'escape.' If 'escape' means luxurious quiet, go high-end. If it means nature, maybe look at a park pool that has a pool component, though those are harder to find.

The Roosevelt is reliable, but I heard the service can be slow on weekends. Maybe check Yelp reviews for the most current vibe check before you go.

I went to the pool at The Conrad and it was amazing. It felt huge and luxurious. Just make sure you book through their official website, don't just walk up.

Seriously, check out the pool at The W Hotel in the Village. It's trendy, and while it gets busy, the design makes it feel like a vacation spot.

I agree with the Langham recommendation. It really nails that 'fancy but not overwhelming' vibe. Just remember to pack a good book and some snacks.

If you are looking for something more public, the pool at the Brooklyn YMCA is surprisingly nice and much cheaper than the hotels. It's a local gem.

I'd recommend checking out the pool at the Shinola Hotel. It has a unique, industrial-chic vibe and is generally less chaotic than the Midtown options.

Definitely avoid the pool at The Peninsula on a Saturday. It was packed, loud, and definitely not relaxing. Try for a weekday afternoon instead.
