I'm planning a trip to the Argosy Casino next weekend and I'm completely overwhelmed by where to park. I'm trying to avoid the expensive garage rates if possible. Does anyone have experience with street parking near the casino? I'm worried about time limits or if they use paid meters. If street parking is a no-go, are there any specific public lots that are known for being easier to access or less costly than the main casino garage? Any advice on the best approach would be greatly appreciated.

Honestly, don't count on street parking. It's usually restricted to residents only, and the meters are expensive and time-limited.

I went last month. Street parking was a nightmare. You have to pay for a garage, and it's definitely the easiest option, even if it costs more.

Check the lot across the street from the main entrance. It's a public lot, and it was significantly cheaper than the casino garage. Bring cash just in case.

Short answer: No. Street parking is a gamble. You risk a ticket or being towed if you linger too long. Use the official garage.

I found a spot two blocks north on Elm Street. It was a bit of a walk, but the parking fee was only $5 for the whole day. Worth the extra steps.

Are you worried about time limits? Yes. The meters are usually 2 hours max, and they are very strict about enforcement. I wouldn't risk it.

I agree with the person who suggested Elm Street. It's a solid alternative if you are willing to walk 10 minutes. Just be sure to check the signage for specific restrictions.

The best approach is to park at the adjacent municipal lot. It's managed by the city, so the rates are generally more predictable and less predatory than the casino's own garage.

I heard that the parking garage has a special rate for non-guests if you just plan to eat nearby. Worth asking them about that.

Wait, you mentioned the municipal lot? Does that mean I can bring a friend who doesn't want to pay for parking? Is it accessible for multiple cars?

The municipal lot is great, but it fills up incredibly fast, especially on a weekend. I recommend getting there early, like before 10 AM, to guarantee a spot.

Don't trust any 'free' spots you see. They are usually monitored by private security, and they will charge you later.

I recommend using the official casino app. Sometimes they offer a discounted rate if you pre-book your parking spot online. It saves hassle.

If you are coming from the north side, try parking near the old theater district. There are some small, private garages that are cheaper than the main entrance garage.

Is it true that the meters are paid by phone now? Because I hate dealing with change and finding quarters.

Yes, they are almost entirely phone-based now. You need to download the city's parking app before you get there. It's much easier than physical meters.

If you are staying overnight, look into hotel parking rates. Sometimes staying at a nearby hotel gives you complimentary or heavily discounted parking for the duration of your stay.

The walk from the public lot is manageable, maybe 15 minutes. Bring comfortable shoes! It's much better than the stress of circling the block looking for a legal spot.

Seriously, just use the garage. The peace of mind is worth the extra cash. You don't want to be late or worried about tickets.

I had a terrible experience with street parking last year. I got a ticket for parking too close to a fire hydrant. Stick to the paid lots, even if they cost a little more.
