I'm really enjoying the new resource loop in this game, but I'm struggling to optimize my hacksaw usage. Specifically, I'm trying to figure out if it's better to focus on high-yield but slow materials, or if I should prioritize quick, low-grade gathering to build up my initial tech tree. Has anyone found a reliable rotation or specific area that gives the best return on investment for a beginner? Any tips on upgrading the hacksaw itself, or if there are specific consumable buffs I should be using would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance!

Focus on quick, low-grade materials initially. It builds the early tech tree faster, which is crucial for unlocking better hacksaw blueprints.

I found that the old quarry zone, near the river bend, has a surprisingly high yield of rare metal scraps. It's not the fastest, but the quality boost makes up for the time investment. Also, make sure you're using the 'Efficiency' buff consumable; it multiplies yield by 1.2x.

Just hit the deep forest zone. It's slower, but the wood density is insane. Worth the grind.

Replying to the user about the quarry: I disagree slightly. While the rare scraps are great, the sheer volume of common wood found in the central plains area allows you to craft basic tools faster. Early game speed trumps material quality until you hit level 5. Don't overlook the basic resources!

Check the forums for a detailed guide on hacksaw upgrades. I spent hours researching the optimal sequence for improving the blade material. It's not just about power, but also the durability stat.

The best rotation is a triangle pattern: gather common wood in the plains, then move to the river for metal, and finally spend a short burst in the quarry for the rare scraps. Don't stay in one spot too long.

Has anyone figured out if the 'Overclock' consumable buff is worth the resource cost? I'm debating if the temporary speed boost is better than the permanent yield increase from the 'Stabilizer' buff. It feels like a huge trade-off.

The Stabilizer buff is king. Always prioritize the permanent boost over temporary speed. Speed is useless if your hacksaw breaks instantly.

My biggest tip is to always save your consumable buffs for when you are actively gathering the highest yield materials. Don't waste them on low-grade runs just because you feel like it. Plan your resource gathering like a mini-raid.

Short answer: Focus on the central plains. It's the most balanced area for early game. Good luck with the grind!
