I finally got my hands on the Deluxe II after waiting forever, and it looks amazing. However, setting up the voice commands with Alexa has been a nightmare. The manual suggests a simple routine, but it keeps failing when I try to pull up my calendar or check the weather forecast. I've tried resetting both the mirror and the smart hub, but nothing seems to stick. Has anyone figured out a workaround or a specific skill I need to enable? Any advice would be greatly appreciated before I give up on this thing.

You might need to check the firmware update schedule. Sometimes the Alexa integration requires a specific patch that hasn't rolled out yet.

I had the exact same issue. It turns out the problem wasn't the mirror or Alexa, but the Wi-Fi band. Make sure both devices are connected to a 2.4GHz network, not 5GHz. That fixed it instantly for me.

Try linking your calendar account through the Alexa app first, then telling the mirror to recognize the link. Don't rely solely on the mirror's internal setup routine.

Short. Check the skill.

Did you confirm that the 'Smart Home' skill is enabled and fully linked within the main Alexa app? Sometimes the mirror setup overlooks the primary hub connection. I spent an hour just going through the Alexa app's skills section to re-verify everything. It was tedious, but it forced a fresh handshake between the devices, and suddenly the weather worked.

I think it's a routine conflict. If you have multiple routines running (e.g., 'Good Morning' and 'Weather Check'), try disabling all but the bare minimum. Then, rebuild the routine step-by-step. It's often one conflicting action.

Reply to previous post (User: TechGuru): Yes, the 2.4GHz fix worked for me too. It's frustrating how these smart devices always fight over the network band. Thanks for the heads up!

Has anyone else found that the mirror needs to be physically powered off and on *after* the Alexa skill is enabled in the app? I suspect the mirror itself needs a reboot to recognize the new connection parameters.

Long. I remember reading a thread about this specific model. It seems the Deluxe II requires a specific 'Echo' type for optimal performance. If you are using an older Echo Dot, upgrading to an Echo Show 8 or newer might resolve the command recognition issues entirely. The newer models handle the complex data streams (like calendar data) much better. It's an expensive fix, but it's worth considering if the software fixes fail.

Did you try the official Magic Mirror support chat? They might have a specific troubleshooting script for the Deluxe II model that isn't public knowledge.

reply to previous post (User: SmartHomeWizard): I agree. The manual is terrible. I had to manually input the API keys into a separate configuration file located on the mirror's internal storage. It was way beyond a simple routine setup.

Check the microphone sensitivity settings on the mirror itself. Sometimes if the mic is too quiet, Alexa won't register the command, even if the connection is fine.

It's almost certainly a software bug. Try contacting the manufacturer's support and mentioning that you are experiencing routine failure for calendar and weather. They might have a beta firmware update available.

I think the issue is the time zone setting. Make sure both the mirror's internal clock and your Alexa account are set to the exact same time zone. Small things like that trip up the weather forecast.

reply to previous post (User: SmartHomeWizard): Exactly. The API keys were the key. It's not a simple routine; it's a deeper integration issue that requires manual backend configuration.
