I just got back from a week at the Marriott Resort and I wanted to share my full experience with anyone planning a trip. Overall, the location is absolutely unbeatable, and the beach access was perfect for snorkeling. However, I found the kids' club to be a bit outdated, and the dining options felt repetitive by day three. The room itself was beautiful and spacious, but I think they really need to upgrade the pool area amenities. Has anyone stayed recently? I'd love to hear if the service has improved since last year.

I stayed last fall and I agree about the location. The snorkeling was incredible. However, the service was actually much better than last year. Our concierge, Maria, was phenomenal and really helped us plan excursions. It definitely feels like they've invested in staff training.

The pool area is definitely lacking. They need more shaded seating and maybe some dedicated activity zones for adults who aren't supervising kids.

Repetitive dining is a real killer. We tried to mitigate it by booking a couple of local restaurants off-site, but it's always nice to have a few more unique options on property.

I was there in January and I have to disagree about the service improvement. Honestly, it was spotty. We waited forever for room service, and the pool attendants seemed completely uninterested in helping us with towels or chairs. Maybe it's seasonal, but I wouldn't count on five-star service right now.

The room was gorgeous. Seriously, the view from the balcony alone made the splurge worth it.

Regarding the kids' club, my kids are older now, but I agree it felt a little dated. Maybe they could add more tech-based activities or something that appeals to tweens, rather than just basic crafts.

Totally agree about the dining. We were so bored by day three, too. We ended up spending most of our evenings exploring local bars in Caleta Tortuga instead. It's worth the little taxi ride just for variety.

Did you book through Expedia or directly with Marriott? I'm trying to figure out if the rate difference is worth the potential points structure.

It was a splurge, yes, but for the sheer convenience of having everything right there, it felt worth it. We didn't have to worry about transportation or finding good spots.

Overall, I found it mixed. The location is perfect, hands down. The room was spacious and comfortable. But the pool area really needs a major overhaul. It feels like it hasn't seen a refresh in years, and the lack of varied amenities makes it feel underwhelming.

Yes, the pool needs work. It feels overcrowded and the loungers are old.

If you're worried about the dining, try packing some snacks or bringing a portable mini-fridge. It forces you to explore and makes the meal times feel less structured and repetitive.

A word of warning for future travelers: book during the shoulder season (September-October). The crowds are thinner, the prices are lower, and you get a much more personalized experience with the staff, which makes the splurge feel less excessive.

Despite the minor issues with the kids' club and dining, the overall experience was fantastic. The service was attentive, and the beach access truly made the trip memorable. Highly recommend it!
