I stayed at the Hilton Garden Inn Preston last weekend for a business trip, and I wanted to share my experience. The location is absolutely perfect for accessing the city center and the train station, which was a huge plus. However, the room itself felt a bit dated, and the air conditioning unit was quite noisy throughout the night. The breakfast buffet was excellent, though, with plenty of variety for everyone. Overall, it's a solid choice if you prioritize location over modern luxury, but they really need to update some of the room amenities.

I totally agree. It's a classic case of great location compensating for outdated rooms. The breakfast really was a highlight for me too.

I had a similar experience, especially with the noise. My AC unit sounded like a jet engine taking off, making it impossible to sleep properly. It felt like they are neglecting the core guest comfort elements. For the price point, I expected better insulation and quieter machinery. It's frustrating because the staff were lovely, but a noisy room ruins the whole trip. They really need a major HVAC overhaul, not just cosmetic updates.

Check for rooms on higher floors.

Oh wow, the noise issue is real. I had a terrible time with mine too. Maybe calling maintenance immediately upon arrival helps?

Don't let the room condition fool you into thinking the whole hotel is subpar. The service was genuinely excellent. Every time I needed help with directions or requested extra towels, the staff was prompt, friendly, and highly professional. They manage the location and the breakfast beautifully, and honestly, the human element of the staff makes up for the wear and tear on the physical amenities. It's a solid operation overall.

I'm glad you found the location good. I stayed last month and found parking a nightmare, though. Be prepared for traffic when you try to get to the center.

I stayed at the adjacent Marriott last month, and while the room was more modern, the breakfast selection was significantly smaller and less varied than what you described here. It really depends on what you prioritize. If variety and convenience are key, this place wins, even with the room quirks. It's a trade-off, but a good one for most business travelers.

The Marriott is nice, but I disagree on the breakfast. The variety at the Hilton Garden Inn was far superior, especially the continental spread. You can't beat a good buffet when you're starting a busy day. Stick with the HG Inn for breakfast.

Overall, I think future guests should manage their expectations. Book it for the location and the breakfast, but maybe pack earplugs and an extra pillow. It's functional, reliable, and perfectly situated for a quick business trip, provided you don't expect five-star modern luxury. It's a workhorse hotel, nothing more, nothing less, and that's okay if you just need a place to sleep and start your day efficiently.
