I just got back from a trip and wanted to share my experience at the Jaragua Hotel. Overall, I was pretty happy, but there were a few things I think management should address. The location is unbeatable, right near the main square, which was perfect for sightseeing. However, the air conditioning in my room was quite noisy, making it hard to sleep properly. The staff were friendly enough, but the breakfast buffet felt a little overpriced for what was offered. I think they could really improve the quality of the food while keeping the great service they provide.

Thanks for the detailed review. The location really is unmatched. I'm planning a trip next month!

I agree about the AC. Mine was so loud I barely slept. Maybe they need to invest in better soundproofing or modern units. It really detracts from an otherwise great stay.

The breakfast was okay, but I think 'overpriced' is a strong word. For the service level, I found it acceptable. Maybe try the local cafes instead of the hotel buffet.

Did you book through a third-party site or directly with the hotel? Sometimes the booking channel affects the room type and price.

I had a totally different experience. My room was quiet, and the staff were amazing. Maybe it was a bad night for you? Don't let the AC ruin the whole picture!

It's a beautiful hotel, but I think you're right about the food. The quality needs a serious upgrade if they want to justify the price point. I'd pay more if the breakfast was gourmet.

Totally agree with the OP. The location alone makes it worth the money, even if the breakfast is mediocre. You can't beat being steps from the main square.

Wow, 10/10 for location. 5/10 for the AC. 3/10 for the breakfast. It seems like the hotel is great at one thing and terrible at everything else. Just a thought.

How was the check-in process? Was the staff friendly when you arrived, or was that just the general service?

I found the staff to be lovely. They went out of their way to help us find local spots. I think the service aspect really makes up for the minor flaws in the room or food.

For future reference, ask for a room on a higher floor. Sometimes the noise from the street is worse on the ground floor, regardless of the AC unit.

The noise level is definitely a dealbreaker for me. If you can't sleep, the trip is ruined, no matter how good the location is. I would rate it lower because of that.

I think the breakfast buffet is a classic tourist trap. They put out a lot of stuff to make it look abundant, but the quality is low. Stick to a local bakery nearby instead.

I'm going to try it despite the warnings. The pictures of the hotel are stunning, and I'm willing to overlook a noisy AC unit for the views.

I was there last year. The management did improve the breakfast! They started offering fresh local juices and better pastries. It was much better than it used to be.

If you are concerned about the price, consider staying for a week or more. Sometimes they offer package deals that make the overall cost much more reasonable.

It's a mixed bag, honestly. The location is a solid 10/10. The service is solid 8/10. But the combination of loud AC and overpriced food drags the average down significantly. They need to prioritize maintenance.

Did you mention if the noise was constant, or only during certain hours? Sometimes the noise is just from the street vendors in the main square.

Overall, I'd say yes, it's worth it, but only if you book a room that specifically guarantees a quiet side street view. Don't risk it!

I found the staff to be genuinely helpful and knowledgeable about the area. They gave us tips on places that were much cheaper and had better food than the hotel's own offerings. Focus on the service, not the buffet.
