My group is visiting Tampa next month and we've decided the Seminole Hard Rock Hotel is going to be our main base. We are staying for about four nights and are trying to figure out the best way to spend our time there. Specifically, I'm wondering about the casino versus the non-gaming amenities. Has anyone stayed recently and can give advice on which restaurants are worth the hype, or if there are any must-see shows we should book tickets for? Also, are there any good local day trips from the hotel that aren't just beach time? Any tips would be greatly appreciated!

Definitely focus on the non-gaming side. The hotel itself is massive, and you'll burn through time just exploring the pools and shops. The restaurants are the real draw.

For restaurants, skip the fancy spots unless you're celebrating a major event. The casual dining options near the pool are great for a relaxed group dinner. Check out the Cuban place on the ground floor.

Regarding day trips, don't just stick to the beach. Consider a trip out to Ybor City. It has a fantastic historic vibe, great architecture, and some amazing local cigar shops. You can spend an afternoon walking around and having a proper Cuban meal. It's a totally different Tampa experience.

The shows are fun, but book tickets in advance. The headliner shows tend to sell out quickly. If you're looking for something more low-key, check out the live music venues nearby that aren't inside the resort.

I'd say the Skyboard is a must-do activity. It's exhilarating and gives you a great view of the whole complex. It's a perfect way to spend an afternoon without having to spend money at the casino.

Totally agree about Ybor. It's much more authentic than just staying in the resort bubble. Also, if you're into nature, the Tampa Bay Botanical Garden is a peaceful alternative to the beach.

Are you planning on doing any major shopping? The outlet mall connected to the hotel is huge, but sometimes it's overwhelming. Maybe plan a specific shopping goal so you don't waste time.

I recommend the 'Tampa Riverwalk' area. It's right near the hotel and offers great views of the bay and some lovely waterfront dining options. It's perfect for a sunset stroll before dinner.

You should check out the local breweries! There are several excellent spots within a short Uber ride. It's a great way to experience the local culture without needing a massive day trip.

The casino is fun for an evening, but don't make it the main focus. Allocate your budget for activities and food experiences instead. The resort has so much to offer besides gambling.

I think the Cuban restaurant is worth the hype, especially the mojo pork. It's a solid, reliable meal and much better than the generic chain options. Definitely worth a visit.

For a non-beach day trip, consider a boat tour through the bay. It gives you a different perspective on the city and is usually less crowded than the main tourist spots. Book it through a local charter company.
