I just bought the Spin Genie attachment for my old riding mower, and I'm really hoping it makes a difference for my overgrown yard. The instructions were a little vague, and I'm not sure if I'm assembling it correctly. It seems to wobble a lot when I try to power it up, and I'm worried it might shake itself apart. Has anyone used this before and can tell me if I need a specific type of oil or adjustment? I'd appreciate any tips on getting it running smoothly and safely.

Did you check the mounting bolts? They are often finger-tightened only.

The wobble is usually a sign of misalignment. Try to find the zero-point setting on the main shaft before powering it up. Also, make sure the blade guard is securely fastened to the housing. If the guard is loose, it will exacerbate the shaking and make it feel much worse than it is. Don't force it if it feels binding.

Use SAE 75W-90 gear oil. Nothing else will cut it for the bearings.

My first time was rough too. I spent hours just cleaning the flywheel housing. It was packed with old grass clippings and grit. You need a stiff brush and maybe some WD-40 to get everything out before adding oil. Seriously, don't skip the cleaning step.

I found that the instructions were useless. You need a specific wrench size for the primary axle nut. Google the model number and look for a video tutorial. It saves so much frustration.

Are you sure it's the attachment? Sometimes the issue is with the PTO shaft itself. Check the connection point to the mower deck. It might be slipping or worn out.

I used the synthetic oil blend recommended by the manufacturer. It ran super smooth right out of the box. Give that a shot.

Be careful with that thing. It's powerful. Wear safety glasses and gloves always. Never try to adjust it while it's running, even if it's just idling.

You might need to adjust the tension spring on the main drive pulley. If that spring is too loose, the whole system will vibrate excessively. It's a small adjustment, but it makes a huge difference in stability.

I think the wobble is due to the blade balance. Try removing the blades and checking the mounting points. Sometimes a slightly bent bolt can throw the whole thing off balance, making it shake violently when you hit full speed.

Thanks for the advice. I'll check the bolts immediately. I was worried it was something internal.

If the wobble persists after checking the bolts, it could be the bearings themselves. They might be worn out or contaminated. If you bought the mower recently, check if the bearings are covered under warranty.

The manual only mentions oil type, not adjustment. I suspect the issue is physical, not fluid-related. Check for any visible cracks in the main housing casting.

Did you try running it on a smaller, less overgrown area first? Sometimes you need to break it in gently. Don't try to tackle the whole yard on day one.

I had the same problem. It turned out I had installed the mounting brackets backward. It was a simple reversal of the bracket set, but it made the whole thing wobble like crazy. Double check the orientation!

Please be careful. These things are heavy and powerful. Take it slow until you are completely comfortable with the operation and the machine's limits. Safety first, always.

Good luck! I hope it runs smoothly for you. Let us know if the gear oil helps!
