My partner and I are planning a trip to Mandalay Bay next month, and we are feeling a little overwhelmed by the sheer amount of things to see. We are looking for a mix of relaxation and activities, so any recommendations would be greatly appreciated. Specifically, are there any hidden gems or local spots that aren't heavily advertised to tourists? Also, regarding transportation, is it better to rent a car or rely on local taxis/ride-shares for getting around the main areas? We want to make sure we maximize our time there without spending all our money on unnecessary tours. Any advice on local dining spots that offer authentic cuisine would also be amazing!

For hidden gems, skip the main promenade and walk towards the old market district. You'll find amazing local bakeries and small artisan shops that are much less touristy. It's a great way to see local life.

I'd recommend renting a scooter or a car if you plan to venture outside the immediate resort area. Taxis are fine for short hops, but a car gives you freedom to explore the quieter neighborhoods.

Definitely try the street food near the main square at sunset. It's cheap, authentic, and the atmosphere is electric. Just be careful about water quality.

Relaxation-wise, spend an afternoon at the secluded beach cove south of the main bay. It's perfect for just reading and enjoying the sunset without the crowds.

Totally agree about the dining! Skip the big resort restaurants. Look for 'Noodle House' signs off the main drag. The local specialties are incredible and won't break the bank.

A car is a must. Seriously. Mandalay Bay is spread out, and relying solely on ride-shares will waste so much time waiting for pickups. It's worth the rental cost for the convenience.

The local market near the temple district is a must-see, but go early in the morning. It's chaotic, but that's part of the charm and the best time to buy fresh produce.

I found that using a combination of local buses and short taxi rides worked best for us. It was more budget-friendly than renting a car for the whole week, and we still managed to see everything.

Are you sure about the scooter? I heard the traffic is really unpredictable, and it can be dangerous for first-time visitors. Maybe stick to the main thoroughfares and use ride-shares for safety.

For activities, don't miss the sunset boat cruise on the inner lagoon. It's beautiful, and it's a great way to end a day of exploring. We spent an entire afternoon just watching the boats come and go.
