My partner and I are planning a long weekend trip to Vegas and we've narrowed down our stay to Mandalay Bay. We are really excited about the beach and the pool area, but we are also concerned about the overall cost of everything. Has anyone stayed there recently and can give us some tips on saving money without sacrificing the experience? Specifically, are there good deals on dining or if we should book a package deal versus booking room and activities separately? Any advice on navigating the resort's amenities or finding good local spots nearby would be greatly appreciated.

Book early for resort credits.

I found that booking a non-refundable package deal was actually cheaper than booking the room and dining separately. Always check the fine print on cancellation policies, though.

The resort fee is brutal. Just plan on budgeting an extra $40-$60 per night for amenities you might not even use. It adds up fast!

Try grabbing lunch off-site. Walk a few blocks away from the main strip and find a local taco place. You save huge amounts of money and get better food.

Totally agree about the dining costs. We ate breakfast at the hotel and then packed snacks and drinks for the pool day. It made a massive difference to our budget.

For the pool, skip the fancy cabana. Just bring a couple of towels and find a spot on the common deck. You save money and still get great sun exposure.

If you are going to the beach, check out the public access points. You don't need to pay for a dedicated resort beach experience to enjoy the ocean views.

What about the local spots nearby? We loved the little bars in the adjacent neighborhood. They had much better vibes and cheaper drinks than the main Mandalay Bay casino bar.

I recommend looking into hotel-affiliated concert packages. Sometimes they bundle tickets and rooms, which is a huge value compared to buying them individually.

Are you talking about the resort fee, or the actual room rate? Because the room rate fluctuates wildly depending on the day of the week.

Don't be afraid to walk around! The best views and sometimes the best deals are found when you wander away from the main casino entrance.

The casino itself is a huge money pit. Set a strict spending limit for gambling and stick to it. That's the biggest way to save money.

I think the package deal is usually worth it, but only if it includes breakfast. Otherwise, you are paying for things you won't use.

We found that if you eat at the buffet style restaurants, you can graze and fill up for less than ordering two separate à la carte dishes. It's a great value hack for dining.

I agree with the buffet advice. Plus, the variety means you can try a little bit of everything without committing to an expensive specialty meal.

Look into public transit options. Driving and parking within the resort area is a major expense that you can completely avoid by using the local bus lines.

My biggest tip is to utilize happy hour deals for drinks. Never pay full price for cocktails. It's the easiest way to save money while still enjoying the nightlife.

If you are looking for a great local spot, check out the area near the Mandalay Bay entrance, but walk two blocks over. You'll find authentic, less touristy restaurants there.
