My partner and I are planning a trip to Aruba and are leaning towards the Holiday Inn resort. We are flexible on dates, but I was hoping some seasoned travelers could give us some input. Is there a specific time of year when the crowds are lighter, or when the prices are better? Also, beyond the resort itself, what are the must-do activities nearby? We want a mix of relaxation and exploring the island. Any tips on getting around or finding good local restaurants would be greatly appreciated!

Definitely go during the shoulder season. Late September through November is usually perfect. You avoid the peak Christmas crowds, and the prices drop significantly. Also, the weather is still beautiful, just a little less predictable than peak season.

I found that early May is fantastic. The weather is warm but not scorching, and the resort isn't fully booked yet. We stayed last year and the staff were super accommodating.

Regarding activities, you absolutely must take a boat trip to Butterfly Beach. It's breathtaking. Also, renting a car is the best way to explore the national parks and find those hidden gems. Don't rely on taxis.

Short answer: October. It's less crowded than January, and the rates are much better. Just pack light rain gear, just in case.

I disagree about October. We went in October and it rained almost every day. If you want reliable sunshine, aim for mid-December, right after the major holiday rush dies down. The island is gorgeous then.

For food, skip the main strip restaurants. Drive out to Noord or Eagle Beach and look for local 'pupumeria' spots. The fresh seafood is unbeatable and the prices are way better than the resort dining.

We loved the Holiday Inn, but if you want a slightly more upscale, quieter feel, check out the Hyatt Regency nearby. It's just a short drive and offers different amenities. Both are great, though!

How about snorkeling? Book a private boat tour instead of the big group excursions. It's way more relaxing and you can spend time exploring secluded coves that the big boats miss.

Reply to the previous post: I think the Hyatt is overkill. The Holiday Inn is perfectly situated for everything you need. Just focus on booking the resort itself, and the location will cover most of your needs.

Getting around: A rental car is essential, but consider a scooter for short trips if you're comfortable. It's fun and lets you weave through the smaller streets. Just be careful with parking!

The best time is definitely the dry season, which runs from November through April. Prices are highest in December and January, so if budget is key, aim for February or March.

If you're looking for relaxation, spend a day just on the beach without a plan. Bring a good book and just listen to the waves. Don't overschedule your trip!

I highly recommend checking out the local farmer's markets when they are running. You can buy incredible local snacks and souvenirs directly from the vendors. It's a great cultural experience.

We found that booking directly through the Holiday Inn website often gives you better package deals than third-party sites. Always compare rates, but their direct booking often includes resort credits.

To add to the activity suggestions: try parasailing over the water. It gives you a totally different perspective of the island and is a huge adrenaline rush. You'll love it!

My advice is to book a combination of activities. Spend two days relaxing by the pool, and then dedicate two days to exploring the natural points of interest. Balance is key for a perfect trip.

I agree with the poster who mentioned the shoulder season. Late fall is perfect because the tourist rush is over, but the island hasn't entered its rainy season yet. It's a sweet spot!
