I'm trying to curate a playlist for a very casual, background vibe, maybe for studying or working out gently. I want something upbeat and catchy, but nothing too complex or lyrically dense. Think early 2000s pop or modern artists who keep the melodies super straightforward and fun. I'm tired of the overly produced, dramatic pop tracks and just want that pure, simple joy. If you have any artists or albums that fit this 'effortlessly catchy' vibe, please throw them my way. Bonus points if they are easy to listen to on repeat!

You should check out early Maroon 5. Their stuff is super catchy and has that perfect background vibe without being distracting.

Totally get this. I'm going back to artists like early Katy Perry and maybe some fun stuff from the late Britney era. Pure, simple pop joy!

For pure simplicity, give it an earful of Carly Rae Jepsen. Her whole catalog screams 'effortlessly catchy' and is perfect for repeat listening.

I recommend anything by One Direction, but maybe focus on the less dramatic tracks. They nail that upbeat, singalong quality.

Totally agree with the Carly Rae suggestion. It's the definition of background music that still makes you want to tap your foot. I also love early Taylor Swift, specifically the 'Fearless' era tracks.

If you want something slightly more indie but still super poppy, try fun. They have a great blend of catchy hooks and simple instrumentation.

Nah, I think you might be overthinking the 'simple' part. Sometimes the best pop has a little bit of complexity that makes it addictive. Give me some Dua Lipa's disco-pop instead. It's polished but still super fun.

The early 2000s vibe is key. Blink-182, but for pop. Maybe something like the Jonas Brothers' less dramatic stuff. Super nostalgic and easy to listen to.

I'd throw you some early Ke$ha. It's pure, unapologetic pop fun that just works for background energy. Very straightforward melodies.

Hey, I think you should skip the early 2000s entirely. It's too varied. Modern artists like Lauv are much more consistent with that simple, upbeat sound you're looking for.

Totally agree with Lauv. He's perfect for studying. It's upbeat enough to keep you awake but mellow enough not to distract you from the material. Highly recommend!

What about anything from the early 2010s electro-pop scene? Artists like Kygo or maybe some early Kyary Puku. It's upbeat, but the production isn't overly dramatic.

You need some tropical house. It's designed for background vibes and is almost impossible not to nod your head to. Search for Kygo compilations.

I'm going to suggest something completely different: Vampire Weekend. They have a quirky, upbeat energy, but the songs are surprisingly simple and catchy, even if the lyrics are a little dense sometimes.

I actually think you might prefer something from the late 90s. Think Destiny's Child or even some Spice Girls tracks. That era mastered the simple, joyful pop anthem.

Don't overlook early Rihanna. Before she got into the dramatic R&B stuff, she had some incredibly catchy, simple pop tracks that are perfect for working out.

If you want pure, simple joy, try anything by OneRepublic. They manage to keep the melodies super straightforward even when the production gets bigger. Perfect for a playlist.

I think you need to try some early Bruno Mars. Tracks like 'Just the Way You Are' have that perfect blend of retro simplicity and modern polish. It's pure, simple joy, guaranteed.

To jump in on the Bruno Mars idea, also check out the tracks from his album 'Doo-Wops of Nature.' It leans heavily into that retro, simple, upbeat sound you are after.
