I've been looking to get into the genre of adult platformers, but the market seems really scattered. I'm specifically interested in games that have solid platforming mechanics, not just simple visual novel elements. Does anyone have experience with specific titles that balance fun gameplay with the mature themes? I'm open to suggestions, whether it's indie titles or something more established. Any advice on where to start or what engines these games are built on would be greatly appreciated.

Check out 'Crimson Bloom'. It's highly rated for its challenging movement and mature story elements. Great starting point.

I found that the engine choice matters a lot. If you want tight controls, look for games built on Unity or Godot. They tend to handle physics better for platforming.

Have you considered 'Midnight Descent'? It's known for its complex level design and really solid combat platforming. It hits the balance you're looking for.

The genre is niche, but I recommend checking itch.io. Many indie devs put out amazing experimental titles there that fit the bill.

Are you looking for something more action-oriented or something puzzle-focused? Knowing that will help narrow down the recommendations considerably.

I agree with the itch.io suggestion. I spent hours on a title called 'Siren's Lullaby' that was purely platforming and incredibly atmospheric. It was a total gem.

The physics engine really makes or breaks the experience. If the jumps feel floaty or unresponsive, save your money. Look for detailed gameplay mechanics reviews.

I think the key is to look for titles that blend Metroidvania elements with adult themes. That combination usually guarantees solid exploration and platforming challenges. It's much deeper than a simple visual novel.

Why do you think the engine choice is so critical? I found some older PC titles that felt great even if they weren't on the latest engines.

For pure challenge, try 'The Abyss Runner'. It's brutal, but the platforming is top-tier and the mature narrative context makes the difficulty feel earned. Be prepared for a steep learning curve.

I found that the older Flash game adaptations sometimes had the best mechanics, even if the art style is dated. They focused purely on the movement.

I think the combat system is just as important as the platforming. A good game needs both to feel satisfying. Have you checked out anything with grappling hooks or traversal abilities?

I'm really interested in the Metroidvania idea. Could you recommend a specific title that nails that blend while keeping the mechanics fresh and engaging?
