I'm planning to upgrade to the S24 Ultra soon, and I keep seeing conflicting information online. I'm a heavy media user and take hundreds of photos and videos every month, so extra storage capacity is really important to me. Could someone confirm if Samsung included a physical SD card slot in this model, or if I'm completely out of luck and have to rely solely on cloud storage or moving files to a computer? I checked the official specs page, but it wasn't crystal clear, so any confirmation would be greatly appreciated.

Unfortunately, no. Samsung dropped the slot starting with the S21 series. You're out of luck for physical cards.

I checked the official specs page, and it confirms it. The S24 Ultra does not include a microSD card slot. You will have to rely on internal storage or external hard drives connected via USB-C.

Seriously? That's such a huge downgrade for media users. It's frustrating knowing I have to manage everything through the cloud or constantly offload photos.

Are you sure? I remember seeing some rumors about a slot being added back in the Ultra model. Did anyone see any official confirmation on that?

You absolutely need to check reliable tech news sources. The S24 Ultra is definitely a sealed unit regarding storage. Plan for cloud services or buying a higher internal storage model.

It's a bummer. For someone who shoots 4K video all day, the storage limitation is a real concern. I might need to reconsider my upgrade plans.

Wait, @TechGuru45, are you sure? My friend said the Ultra kept the slot for the premium users. Can anyone confirm that?

Yes, @TechGuru45, I'm 100% sure. It's gone. Samsung made the decision to streamline the hardware, and the slot was cut. It's a common complaint among photographers.

Have you looked into using Samsung DeX? Sometimes connecting an external SSD via USB-C and running DeX can give you enough space to manage your media without worrying about the phone's internal limits.

If you are a heavy media user, buying the 1TB model is your only real option. Trying to manage hundreds of GBs of photos and videos on 256GB is going to be stressful.

I agree with the OP. For serious content creators, this omission is a massive oversight by Samsung. It forces users into an ecosystem that is becoming too restrictive.

The cloud is the way to go now. Services like Google Photos or OneDrive are excellent, and they handle the massive uploads efficiently. Just make sure you have a solid internet connection when you're at home.

It's a shame. I really thought the Ultra line would maintain the slot. Maybe they will bring it back in a future generation, but for the S24, it's a definite no.

Don't worry too much. Most people underestimate how much space they actually use. You can optimize your phone storage by deleting duplicate photos and clearing cache regularly.

I recommend checking out portable SSDs. They are fast, reliable, and give you the physical storage capacity you are looking for, bypassing the need for a card slot entirely.

reply to @TechGuru45: I think you might be confusing the S24 Ultra with an older model. The slot was removed years ago. Please check your source again.

If you are planning on professional videography, you might want to look at a phone that still supports expansion, or consider a dedicated camera rig that feeds directly to an external recorder.

Honestly, the camera improvements and the AI features are so good that you should focus on those instead of worrying about the storage slot. It's a minor inconvenience for a major upgrade.
