I've been playing for a while now and I keep running into lore questions. Specifically, I'm trying to figure out what the game considers the player's age. Is it implied that we are young adults, or is there any in-game evidence that suggests a specific age range? I'm asking because I'm trying to get into the role-playing aspect of the game and want to make sure my character feels consistent. Any insight from experienced players who have dug into the lore would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

I think the game is deliberately vague. It keeps the focus on the farming life, not the character's biography.

I've read a lot of lore theories, and the general consensus is that the player character is meant to be in their early to mid-twenties. This is based on the general vibe and the fact that most of the NPCs are established adults.

Short answer: No. There is absolutely no in-game evidence of the player's age. It's a sandbox game, and the developers never commit to a specific backstory for the protagonist. You are free to decide what age fits your role-play goals.

Reply to the previous post: I disagree that it's just a sandbox. The way the Pelican Town community is structured, with established relationships and jobs, suggests the player isn't a literal teenager. They seem like someone who has been out of school for a while.

The initial prompt about the farm suggests a fresh start, which often implies someone who has recently moved back home or is starting a new life chapter. It doesn't scream '22 years old' or '45 years old.'

It feels like the game wants us to project our own age onto the character. If you feel like a young adult, that's fine. If you feel like a retired person starting a hobby, that's also valid. The lore is intentionally open-ended.

Reply to the previous post: I think the 'vibe' argument is weak. If they were meant to be a specific age, they would give a hint, like a graduation gift or a specific type of work uniform. The ambiguity is probably intentional to keep the focus on the gameplay loop.

I found a theory that suggested the player character might be a college dropout who moved back home. It helps with the 'fresh start' narrative, but it's purely fan speculation, so take it with a grain of salt.

I think the age is less important than the *stage of life*. The game is about rediscovery and routine. Whether you're 20 or 30, the core experience of farming and community building remains the same. Focus on the journey, not the birth certificate.

To build on the 'vague' point: The NPCs themselves have varying ages and life stages, which makes the player's age relative. It's a character designed to fit into a community, not defined by a specific demographic.
