I've been trying to get back into roller skating after a break, but my knees are really bothering me. I heard a few people mentioning Daniel's training regimen, but I can't find any details on his specific warm-up or cool-down exercises. Is he doing specific stretches before skating, or is it more about the type of roller gear he recommends? I'm worried about overdoing it and causing a flare-up. Any advice on managing the pain while building back up would be hugely appreciated.

I think the gear is half the battle. Getting good knee sleeves and proper alignment skates makes a huge difference before you even worry about stretches.

Definitely start with gentle cycling or swimming. Don't put impact on the knees right away. Listen to your body!

Daniel's routine is all about prehab. He emphasizes quad stretches and calf raises for 15 minutes before every session. Don't skip the warm-up!

Has anyone actually seen Daniel? I'm skeptical about the 'secret routine' theories. Maybe it's just consistency and low impact training that's key.

I had a terrible flare-up last year. I found that foam rolling my quads and hamstrings, followed by gentle pigeon pose stretches, helped immensely. It really targets the surrounding muscles, not just the joint itself.

Is_reply: true. @SkateDad1985 I disagree about just stretching. You need dynamic warm-ups, not static holds. Try leg swings and ankle circles first.

My physical therapist told me to focus on strengthening my glutes and hips. Weak hips put all the strain on the knees when skating. It's core strength, really.

I recommend checking out brands that focus on shock absorption. The type of bearings and wheels matter more than the stretches sometimes. It reduces the jarring impact.

I think the biggest mistake people make is trying to jump back to old performance levels too quickly. Build up slowly, maybe only skating for 20 minutes a day for the first two weeks.

Are you sure it's Daniel? My friend said his routine was just 10 minutes of deep squats and lunges, focusing on perfect form, not intensity.

Definitely use compression socks. They help with blood flow and reduce swelling after a long session. It's a simple thing, but it helps.

I'm going to try the foam rolling and the low-impact cardio combo. Thanks everyone for the advice. I feel less overwhelmed now!

Is_reply: true. @SkateDad1985 You're right about the core, but you also need to stretch the IT band. Tight IT bands are notorious for knee pain when you're rolling.

Remember to cool down with static stretching for 10 minutes. Focus on the calves and quads. It helps prevent the next day's stiffness.

I also found that wearing knee braces for the first month helped me feel secure and allowed me to move more confidently, which was half the battle against pain.
