Did anyone else see a really wild fox near the park today?

I was walking through Willow Creek Park this afternoon and saw the most incredible fox. It was moving so quickly and seemed almost playful, running through the underbrush like it was having fun. It was definitely a wild animal, not a pet, and it was much bolder than I expected. I was worried it might be injured, but it seemed healthy and just very energetic. Has anyone else noticed unusually active foxes in this area lately? I'm trying to figure out if there's a specific feeding time or if they are just particularly rambunctious this season.

Oh wow, that sounds amazing! Foxes are so much fun to watch when they're comfortable around people.

I saw a fox last week too, but it was much more skittish. Maybe the weather change is making them more active?

I think the recent increase in rodents might be the cause. They've found a reliable food source and are capitalizing on it. It's natural seasonal behavior, really.

I agree with the rodent theory. Plus, maybe the park has some new trash receptacles that are attracting them. It's a mix of factors, I'd say.

Be careful, though. They are wild animals and their natural instincts are always stronger than what we think. Keep your distance!

Totally rambunctious! Mine were chasing squirrels all over the main path yesterday. It's like they're having a mini-carnival.

It's definitely getting bolder. I noticed a fox sniffing right near the picnic tables this morning. It was quite close, which was surprising.

I think you might be overthinking it. They are just foxes. They are wild, and sometimes wild animals are just energetic. Don't worry too much.

Does anyone know if the park management has posted any warnings about wildlife activity lately? I'm worried about safety.

I'm glad you saw it healthy. Seeing them thrive is great, but it also means they are successfully adapting to our environment, which is a mixed blessing.

I saw one near the creek bed yesterday. It was just lounging in the sun, not running around. Maybe the activity is localized to certain times of day?

It's probably just the mating season energy. They are highly territorial and very active when they are establishing new areas or looking for mates.

Seriously, stay away from them. They can carry diseases, and even if they seem playful, they are unpredictable. Keep your distance and observe from afar.

Maybe it's the time of year. Autumn usually makes wildlife much more visible and active because the food sources are changing rapidly.

I think the feeding time theory is strong. If people are leaving out pet food or trash is easily accessible, they will become bolder and more predictable.

Wow, that sounds like an incredible sighting. I'll keep my eyes peeled next time I walk through Willow Creek. Thanks for the heads up!

I'm going to start taking notes on when I see them. Maybe I can track a pattern myself. Good luck with your research!
