My partner and I are planning a trip to Perth next month and we're really excited about checking out the casino. We've heard it's a big attraction, but we aren't sure where to start. Are there any specific areas or types of entertainment we should focus on? Also, does anyone have advice on getting the most out of the experience without spending a fortune? Any tips on local dining options near the casino would be hugely appreciated too. Thanks in advance for any recommendations!

Definitely check out the dining options first. It's less overwhelming than just hitting the casino floor. The area has some great hidden gems.

For a first-timer night, I recommend focusing on the entertainment complex rather than just the gambling. There are usually live music acts and shows that are great for couples. It gives you a nice atmosphere without the pressure of constant betting. Also, look into package deals for dining and entertainment; they save you money and make planning easy. Don't forget to check out the surrounding riverwalk for a nice stroll before dinner.

Short and sweet: book a show.

I found that budgeting for one main activity, like a specific dinner or show, and then leaving some wiggle room for a few drinks is the best strategy. Don't feel pressured to spend all your money on the tables. The atmosphere itself is part of the fun, so just walking around and soaking it in is worth it. Also, try the local craft beer bars nearby for a more authentic vibe.

Are you thinking of staying at a specific hotel? That can change the whole experience.

Totally agree with the hotel suggestion. If you stay at one of the major resorts, you often get complimentary access or discounts on activities and dining, which is a huge money saver. It makes the whole trip feel more cohesive and less scattered. Also, ask the concierge for local restaurant recommendations outside the immediate casino zone.

If you want a fun, non-gambling activity, look into the local art galleries or a boat cruise on the Swan River. It's a great way to spend an afternoon and still feel connected to the 'night out' vibe without the cost or intensity of the casino itself. For dining, I highly recommend searching for Italian cuisine near the main thoroughfare; it's consistently excellent and usually more affordable than the resort restaurants.

I think the best way to save money is to eat dinner *before* you go to the casino area. Then, just enjoy the drinks and the ambiance. You'll feel less pressure to spend big bucks on food and can allocate your budget more effectively to the entertainment you actually want.

I disagree that you have to eat beforehand. Sometimes the casino restaurants are worth splurging on for the experience alone. If you want a good balance, maybe do a nice cocktail at a bar, followed by a casual, but high-quality, meal nearby. It keeps the evening flowing and prevents you from getting too settled into one spot.

The best thing is to just wander. Walk the pathways, window shop, and soak up the energy. It costs nothing and is a great way to get your bearings. For dinner, check out the little laneway spots - they are usually fantastic and very local.

For dining, look for places specializing in fresh seafood. It's a Perth staple, and many spots near the waterfront do it exceptionally well. Pair it with a local wine tasting if you want a full evening experience. Have a fantastic trip!
