I'm planning a trip to Vegas and staying at Mandalay Bay, which is great, but I'm worried about getting around. I've heard the traffic can be intense, especially when trying to get to places like the Venetian or Caesars. Does anyone have advice on the most efficient way to travel between the different resorts? Should I rely on the shuttle buses, or is it better to walk parts of the way? Also, are there any specific times of day when the traffic is at its absolute worst? Any tips on minimizing travel stress would be hugely appreciated.

Definitely walk as much as you can. It's surprisingly manageable and you see the atmosphere.

The shuttle buses are fine for emergencies or late nights when you're exhausted. But for general movement, walking is best. Wear comfortable shoes!

I found that the absolute worst traffic times are between 5 PM and 8 PM. Everyone is leaving work and heading to dinner/shows. Plan your big moves before 4 PM or after 9 PM.

Honestly, don't stress about the travel. The resorts are designed to be connected. Just follow the signs and enjoy the walk. It's part of the fun.

Are you considering the Monorail? It's fast and avoids the worst of the surface traffic, especially if you are moving between the north and south ends.

I agree with the walking advice. Also, use the free local circulator buses if you are carrying a lot of luggage. They drop you right at the main entrance of most resorts.

The Monorail is great, but it can get crowded. If you are just going from Mandalay Bay to the Venetian, walking is a more scenic and less stressful option.

Short answer: Walk. Unless it's raining heavily or you are severely intoxicated. Then, call a ride-share.

Reply to the Monorail comment: While the Monorail is fast, it can be confusing to navigate between stations, and it doesn't always take you exactly where you need to be. Walking gives you better directional awareness.

I recommend grouping your activities. Don't try to hit everything in one day. Dedicate one day to the central resorts and another day to the southern ones.

If you are worried about traffic, consider using the free local bus network. It's reliable, cheap, and designed specifically for tourists moving between major hubs.

Reply to the '5 PM - 8 PM' comment: That timing is spot on. I experienced gridlock trying to get from Mandalay Bay to Caesars around 6:30 PM last year. It was a nightmare.

Just walk, but keep your phone charged. Google Maps is surprisingly accurate for predicting walking time and alternative routes.

For minimizing stress, pack snacks and water. Walking all day is tiring, and knowing you have refreshments nearby helps immensely.

I always take the free local shuttle that runs near the casino entrance. It's not the fastest, but it's the most stress-free because you don't have to worry about which way you are walking.

My biggest tip is to check the resort's specific event schedule. Sometimes they run special internal shuttle services that are much more efficient than the general public transport.

Totally agree with the walking advice. Plus, the walk itself is part of the Vegas experience. Take your time and enjoy the architecture!
