I'm planning a trip to Tampa and I've heard the poker scene at Hard Rock is pretty good. I'm mainly interested in the cash games, specifically low-stakes No Limit Hold'em. Does it make a difference if I go on a weekday versus a weekend? Also, are there specific times when the game tends to get more action or if certain tables are better for beginners? Any advice on booking a seat or what kind of bankroll I should bring for a solid few hours would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance!

For low-stakes NLH, I'd say weekday afternoons are often best. The action is steady but not overwhelming, and the crowd is generally more focused on playing rather than just socializing. Weekends can get very crowded and the stakes jump up quickly, which is great if you're experienced, but tough if you're just starting out.

I agree that weekdays are calmer, but try going right after the lunch rush, maybe 2-4 PM. The energy is building, but the big tournament players haven't arrived yet. It's perfect for getting comfortable with the pace without the massive crowds of a Saturday night.

Regarding bankroll, always play with money you can afford to lose. For a solid few hours at low stakes, $300-$500 is usually sufficient, depending on how aggressively you play. Also, never chase losses; take a break if you hit a rough patch. It's more about the fun than the profit, especially when you're visiting.

To reply to the bankroll point: I found that having a dedicated 'break money' amount was key. If I was down to my break money, I would immediately leave, regardless of how close I felt to a win. It helps keep the session disciplined and fun. Also, ask the floor staff about specific low-stakes tables; they know which ones are usually steady.
