I've been playing on PokerStars for a while now, mostly focusing on cash games, but I'm trying to get better at Multi-Table Tournaments (MTTs). I often feel like I'm leaving money on the table, especially during the bubble phase. Does anyone have advice on specific pre-flop opening ranges or blind levels I should be paying more attention to? I'm looking for actionable tips, not just general theory. Any insights from high-level players would be greatly appreciated.

Focus heavily on ICM calculations, even at low stakes. It changes your approach dramatically during bubble play. Don't play like cash games.

Pre-flop, especially when blinds are small, you need to widen your opening ranges from early positions. Don't be afraid to play hands like suited connectors or small pairs.

I found that sticking to a consistent, aggressive opening size (like 2.5x) across different blind levels helps maintain pressure. It makes you look more confident, which is key when you're trying to read opponents.

Short. Play tight. Wait for the flop.

To reply to the previous point about ICM: While ICM is crucial, don't let it paralyze you. Sometimes, the best play is simply to play a strong hand aggressively, even if the pot size seems 'too big' relative to the bubble payout. You still need to exploit mistakes, or you'll be exploited yourself.

The biggest mistake I see is over-folding post-flop when the board is wet. You need to be willing to semi-bluff with draws. Don't just play for value.

I've noticed that when the tournament gets deep-stacked, the action slows down a lot. Be ready to take the initiative and force action. Sometimes a simple raise is all you need to disrupt the equilibrium.

I disagree about always playing aggressively. Sometimes, when you are facing multiple opponents, trapping with a monster hand is much more profitable than trying to build a pot pre-flop. Patience is an underrated skill.

Regarding blind levels: Pay attention to the variance. When the blinds are very low, the field is often weaker and more speculative. Exploit that weakness by taking control of the pot early.

It's all about table dynamics. Observe who is calling too much, and who is folding too often. Tailor your strategy to the specific table, not just the blind level. Good luck out there!
