I'm planning a weekend trip through the 710 area and I'm really hoping to find some authentic, local food spots. I've heard great things about the general food scene, but I'm not sure where to start. Does anyone have recommendations for places that aren't tourist traps? Specifically, I'm looking for good lunch spots that offer a variety of cuisines, maybe something with great street food vibes. Any advice on specific neighborhoods or must-try restaurants would be hugely appreciated. Thanks in advance!

You absolutely have to check out the area around the old market district. It's a bit gritty, but the food is incredible and super local. Look for small, unmarked stalls for the best street food experience. It's a real dive, but worth it for the authenticity.

For lunch, try the little Vietnamese place tucked away on Oak Street. Their banh mi is legendary and definitely not a tourist trap. It's a quick, perfect bite.

I recommend exploring the neighborhoods bordering the 710, especially near the university campus. You'll find amazing ethnic eateries that cater to students, meaning they are cheap, diverse, and genuinely local. Don't be afraid to wander off the main thoroughfares.

The best food is often found by walking until you smell something amazing. Seriously, ditch the map for an afternoon and just follow your nose. You'll stumble upon gems.

Oh, I know a spot! It's a little Ethiopian place that opened up recently. Amazing flavors and very affordable. Check out 'Habesha Bites' near the main bus line.

I agree about avoiding the tourist traps. Have you considered checking out the food trucks that gather near the industrial park on Fridays? They have a huge variety and are always experimenting with new cuisines.

Short and sweet: Tacos. Lots of tacos. Look for the ones with the longest line of locals.

Definitely check out the little Asian grocery stores. Many of them have small, attached restaurants run by the owners. These are usually the most authentic and cheapest places to eat. I found a great noodle spot just off 710.

Reply to the food truck idea: Yes, but be careful. Some are geared toward the weekend crowd, so maybe focus on the weekday trucks for the true hidden gem experience. They are more reliable for authenticity.

For a great variety, look for a Latin American market. They usually have small stalls selling everything from arepas to empanadas. It's a great way to sample multiple cuisines without committing to one restaurant.

The best hidden gem is probably the little bakery on Elm Street. They make incredible pastries and sandwiches that taste like they were made by grandma. It's a perfect lunch spot.

If you like street food vibes, you must try the grilled skewers near the park entrance. They change vendors daily, so it's always an adventure. Just bring cash!

I was skeptical about the 710 area, but I found a fantastic little Thai spot that is truly local. It was called 'Siam Corner.' The curry was perfect, and the atmosphere was casual and lived-in. I highly recommend it for a lunch break.

Does anyone know if there's a good place for vegetarian options? I'm trying to avoid meat, but I still want that street food vibe.

Reply to the vegetarian question: Yes! The market district mentioned earlier has a wonderful falafel stand that is 100% vegan and tastes incredible. It's a perfect, filling, and cheap lunch option.

Just walk five blocks east from the main intersection. You'll see a cluster of small, family-run restaurants. They usually have a sign in multiple languages, which is a good sign of diversity and local patronage.

Honestly, just take the bus through the industrial zone around noon. The smell of spices and cooking food is your guide. Don't look for a name, look for the activity.
