I've been trying to optimize my resource gathering lately, and I keep running into the bonus starvegas mechanic. It seems like the amount I get depends on when I use the resource, but the in-game guides are really vague about the optimal timing. Is it better to save up and use it all at once, or should I spread out my usage over several days? I'm worried I might be missing out on a significant boost if I'm not doing it correctly. Any experienced players who have figured out the best strategy would be a huge help. Thanks in advance!

You absolutely need to spread it out. Using it all at once causes a massive dip the next day.

I found that the key isn't just timing, but the cycle. You should save enough to cover the trough period, which usually happens 72 hours after a major harvest. If you use it all up during peak times, you leave yourself vulnerable when the resource naturally dips. Think of it as smoothing out the curve, not maximizing the peak.

I'm not sure if the timing is as critical as people make it out to be. My resource output has been consistent even when I used the bonus gas in large chunks. Maybe the guides are outdated.

Just save it.

I disagree with the idea of saving for the trough. If you save it for 72 hours, you might miss out on a crucial early-game boost that lets you acquire better gathering tools, which ultimately increases your base rate. Focus on immediate utility over long-term storage.

My best strategy has been to use the bonus gas right before I know a major crafting project is starting. It gives me the buffer I need to gather the secondary components without stressing my primary resource flow. It's about proactive usage, not reactive usage.

Honestly, the optimal strategy involves a combination of predictive usage and storage management. First, identify your resource sinks - what major projects or events are coming up? Second, calculate the minimum required gas to survive the period between those sinks. The bonus gas should then be used to fill the gap between your natural minimum and the ideal buffer level. Never let your reserve drop below 15% capacity, regardless of how much bonus gas you have. Furthermore, if you can temporarily boost your base gathering rate through other means (like temporary buffs or specific equipment), use the bonus gas *after* those boosts are applied, as the compounding effect seems to be the most significant factor.

Watch out for the weather modifiers. They drastically change the timing window.

I agree with the buffer concept. Having that 15% reserve is non-negotiable for survival.

I found that if you use the bonus gas immediately after a major resource depletion event, it seems to kickstart a secondary, smaller bonus cycle. It's like the game rewards you for immediate, high-intensity usage following a low point. I'd say you should use it within 24 hours of hitting your lowest resource point of the week.

When you say 'depletion event,' are you referring to the massive drain from the orbital generator, or just general resource spending? I'm curious about the specific trigger point you noticed.

Ultimately, it's a balance. Don't hoard it, but don't waste it. Use it when your resource flow is weakest, but save enough to survive the inevitable dry spell that follows the next big project. Good luck optimizing!
