My house needs some serious updates, specifically around the plumbing and electrical work, and I'm feeling completely overwhelmed by the options. I've been doing some research online, but I keep finding conflicting reviews and I'm worried about getting ripped off. Has anyone here had positive experiences with a specific contractor or handyman service in the Winstar area? I really need someone reliable who can provide a detailed quote and stick to a timeline. Any recommendations would be hugely appreciated, especially if you can mention their specialty or if they handle permits.

I used a company called 'Prairie Home Services.' They handled both electrical and plumbing updates on my place near Winstar last year. They were professional, gave us a very detailed quote, and kept us updated on the timeline. I highly recommend calling them first.

Short answer: Call Bob's Plumbing & Electrical. They are reliable.

Be careful about contractors who promise the moon. I found a guy, Mike, who specializes in older homes and understands the unique wiring challenges in this area. He was very thorough and made sure all the necessary permits were handled by the city. It cost more than I expected, but the peace of mind was worth it. Just ask for Mike and mention the old farmhouse wiring issue.

I'm having trouble getting quotes too. Did you check out the local community Facebook groups? Sometimes people post recommendations there that aren't easily searchable.

I had a terrible experience with a general handyman. He started the job, quoted me one price, and then kept adding 'little extras' that ballooned the bill. Always get three separate quotes and check their licensing status through the state website before you commit to anything.

Hey, @User123, did you ask them about their warranty? It's crucial that they stand by their work for at least a year. Don't just rely on word-of-mouth; ask for references from people who had similar scope of work.

My plumbing issue was minor, but the electrical work was huge. I recommend 'Deep Creek Trades.' They are licensed, they handle permits, and they are great with timelines. They are based just outside Winstar, which made it convenient for me.

I disagree with the general handyman advice. Sometimes you just need a quick fix, and a good local hand can do it without the overhead of a huge company. Just vet them carefully, though.

Check out the county records for licensed contractors. It's the best way to filter out the amateurs. For plumbing, try 'Riverbend Plumbing.' They are known for being straightforward and honest about pricing.

I found a great local resource through the county fair website directory. They listed a few reliable tradesmen. It was a goldmine of local knowledge! Hope you find someone great!

To follow up on the warranty point: Yes, absolutely check it! I had to chase them down for the warranty paperwork, which was a huge headache. Make sure the contract specifies the warranty details and who contacts you if there is an issue down the road.
