I just started trying out the 'Play Amo' feature in the new update, and I'm honestly a little lost. The tutorial was super brief, and I'm trying to figure out the optimal build order for the early game. Specifically, does the resource generation rate scale differently if you focus on the primary nodes first, or should I prioritize the secondary ones? I've watched a few YouTube videos, but they seem outdated, and I'm worried I'm missing a key strategic element. Any experienced players who can walk me through some basic tips or point me to a reliable guide would be hugely appreciated. Thanks in advance!

Welcome to the grind! Focus on the primary nodes first, always. It's non-negotiable for a stable early game economy.

I found a really detailed wiki guide on the official forums. It covers the resource scaling curves for both primary and secondary nodes. Check the 'Advanced Strategy' section. It was a lifesaver.

Secondary nodes are actually key, but only after you've secured a minimum of 60% of the primary node's initial output. Otherwise, you're overextending your early resources.

Totally agree with the wiki suggestion. I spent hours watching outdated videos too. The scaling mechanics changed significantly in patch 4.2, so ignore anything pre-4.2.

Short answer: Prioritize primary. Then, build up a small buffer before touching secondary. Don't spread yourself too thin!

I think the misconception is that the scaling is linear. It's actually exponential, meaning the early investment in primary nodes yields disproportionately huge returns later on. You need that initial momentum.

>> User_Alpha: Are you sure about the exponential claim? I tested it last night, and the difference between focusing on primary vs. secondary was almost negligible until the mid-game phase. Maybe the scaling is more gradual than that?

The optimal build order depends heavily on your chosen specialization. If you're going for combat dominance, secure the nodes that boost combat efficiency first. If you're going economic, stick to the primary resource nodes.

Seriously, check out the 'Amo Mechanics Deep Dive' thread. It has user-generated flowcharts that map out the resource allocation perfectly. It's much clearer than any video.

Wait, if I focus only on primary nodes, do I miss out on the unique resource types that secondary nodes provide? I'm worried about resource diversity.

>> User_Beta: You don't miss out, but you delay access. Think of the secondary nodes as 'upgrades' to your primary infrastructure, not replacements. Build the foundation first.

Just stick to the basic flow: Primary nodes -> Utility structures -> Secondary nodes. Don't try to jump straight to the secondary stuff.

I found that building a small network of secondary nodes early on, just enough to power your initial research, actually speeds up your overall tech tree progression more than pure primary focus.

Resource generation rate scaling is tied to the network radius, not just the node type. Make sure your initial build placement covers a wide area, regardless of primary or secondary focus.

The key strategic element you might be missing is the 'node synergy' mechanic. Certain pairs of nodes boost each other's output dramatically. Look for combinations, not just individual nodes.

Try starting with a mixed approach. Secure 40% primary, 30% secondary, and dedicate the remaining 30% to utility infrastructure immediately. It balances growth and diversity.

I recommend starting with the guide by 'MasterBuilder7'. He breaks down the resource curve into manageable phases. It's incredibly helpful for beginners like yourself.
