I recently purchased the Sky Vegus drone kit, and while the initial setup seemed straightforward, I've run into some frustrating performance issues. Specifically, the battery life seems much shorter than advertised, and the camera feed often drops out when I try to fly it beyond 500 feet. Has anyone else noticed this inconsistent performance, or is there a specific firmware update I should be looking into? I've checked the manual multiple times, but I can't find a solution for the range limitations. Any tips on maximizing its flight time would be greatly appreciated.

Dude, you are not alone. I had the exact same issue with the camera feed dropping at altitude. It's really frustrating.

I think the issue might be related to environmental interference. Have you tried flying in a more open area, away from tall buildings or radio towers? Sometimes signal degradation is the culprit, not the drone itself. Also, make sure your propellers are clean and tightly secured. Sometimes a minor physical issue can affect stability and range. I found that upgrading to a third-party high-capacity battery helped me significantly with flight time, even if it wasn't the official Sky one. It's worth the extra cost if you want to push the limits.

Check the firmware first.

Has anyone found a specific setting in the advanced menu that optimizes the signal transmission? I read a forum post suggesting adjusting the transmission frequency band, but I couldn't find where to do that in the current manual. Any insight would be greatly appreciated.

Reply to previous post: I think the battery isn't the main problem. It's definitely the signal strength at altitude. Maybe the drone needs a booster antenna or something similar? I'm skeptical, but I'm desperate.

Mine too. The advertised battery life is pure fiction. I get maybe 15 minutes max, even on a calm day.

Reply to previous post: I agree about the signal. I used a different brand of SD card, and it seemed to stabilize the feed when I was flying further out. It might be the data throughput causing the drop. Try a high-speed, reliable card.

Just use it lower. Seriously. Don't push the range.

I managed to get better range by keeping the drone weight down. I removed the extra payload mount and only carried the essentials. It made a noticeable difference in both flight time and signal consistency. Also, remember to fully charge the controller battery, not just the drone battery.

Reply to previous post: You are right about the firmware. I found a hidden update section in the developer menu that wasn't in the main manual. It fixed the altitude drop-out for me. Look for 'V2.1.4' specifically.

Is it the wind? I noticed it struggles significantly when there's even a moderate breeze. Maybe it's not built for outdoor use in variable weather.

I had the same problem with the camera feed dropping. I ended up buying a professional signal repeater unit designed for drones. It cost a fortune, but it solved the range issue completely. Might be overkill, but it worked.
