I keep seeing posts and ads mentioning something called a 'lightning link' that supposedly boosts your Facebook presence or profile visibility. I'm really confused because I've never heard of it, and some people are claiming it's the new way to share content quickly. Is this some kind of official Facebook feature, or is it just another third-party tool that might be a scam? I'm worried about clicking on these links because I don't want to compromise my account security. Has anyone successfully used this, or can someone explain what it actually does without me needing to worry about phishing?

I think it's probably a scam. Facebook rarely introduces new features without major announcements.

Be extremely careful. If it sounds too good to be true, it almost certainly is. Don't click anything that asks for your password or personal data.

Has anyone actually found out what the official mechanism is? I'm worried about phishing, too. I checked Facebook's help center and found nothing about 'lightning link'.

My friend used one, and it just led to a landing page asking for an email address and promising more visibility. I think it's just lead generation, not a real feature.

Totally agree with the scam theory. These links are designed to harvest data, plain and simple. Ignore them.

It might be a new ad format, not a functional link. Sometimes third-party marketers misuse terminology to sound official. Stick to standard sharing methods.

I read a forum post saying it's related to boosted posts, but the source was sketchy. I'd advise treating it as suspicious until Facebook confirms it.

Wait, are you saying I should just ignore all new links? That seems extreme. Maybe it's just a niche feature for groups?

It's definitely a marketing gimmick. They capitalize on people's desire for quick growth and use buzzwords like 'lightning' to sound urgent and important.

To answer your question directly: I've never heard of it either. I suspect it's a paid service that uses misleading terminology to trick small business owners.

I think the key is recognizing the source. If the link comes from a non-Facebook domain, or if the post is highly promotional and vague, it's probably junk. Always use the official 'Boost Post' button instead.
