I'm finally ready to upgrade my bathroom with a smart mirror, and the 'Deluxe' model seems to be the standard recommendation. I've done some research on its display quality and overall look, but I'm overwhelmed by the setup process. Specifically, I'm wondering about integrating it with my existing smart lighting and calendar system. Does anyone have experience connecting it to Google Home or Alexa, and are there any known compatibility issues with third-party sensors? Any advice on optimal placement or necessary wiring would be greatly appreciated before I commit to the purchase.

I found it easiest using IFTTT. It handled the lighting triggers perfectly with my Google Home setup. Just make sure your mirror supports Matter protocol for the best future-proofing.

Short answer: Yes, it works great with Alexa. Just use the dedicated skill and link your accounts. Don't forget to check the specific wiring requirements for your bathroom's electrical box.

Be careful with third-party sensors. While the Deluxe model is robust, compatibility often depends on the sensor's API exposure. I had trouble getting my older Zigbee humidity sensor to communicate reliably. You might need a dedicated hub like SmartThings to mediate the connection.

Optimal placement is key. Don't put it directly opposite a window, or the ambient light will wash out the display. Also, consider running the power source through a dedicated circuit to prevent flickering when the lights turn on.

I agree with the sensor point. Mine was a newer Z-Wave model, and linking it through the manufacturer's cloud service was much smoother than trying to connect it directly to the mirror's OS. Check for local control options!

Has anyone tried integrating it with Apple HomeKit? I'm running a mostly Apple ecosystem, and I'm worried about the setup complexity if I can't use my calendar data.

If you are using Google Home, make sure you are using the latest firmware update for the mirror. Older versions often drop support for newer smart lighting brands. It was a huge headache until I updated everything.

Reply to the sensor point: I used a dedicated hub and it was flawless. It allowed me to create complex routines, like 'Good Morning' which turns on the lights, displays the weather, and reads the calendar, all seamlessly. Highly recommend it.

Wiring is the biggest hurdle. You might need an electrician. It's not just about power; you need to consider data lines if you are running multiple systems into one location. Don't DIY the wiring.

I found the setup process surprisingly straightforward, actually. The manufacturer provided excellent documentation, and the initial connection to Alexa took less than fifteen minutes. Just keep your smart lighting brand on the approved list to avoid headaches.
