I just got back from a long weekend at the MGM and wanted to share my experience, especially regarding the room service and pool area. The room itself was beautiful and spacious, but the service felt a little inconsistent; sometimes it was prompt, other times we waited forever. The pool area was huge, which was great, but it was really crowded, making it hard to relax. I think the value depends heavily on what you plan to do there. If you're just looking for a place to sleep, there are cheaper options, but if you want the full Vegas experience, the MGM is solid, even if it needs some minor upkeep.

I think your assessment of value is spot on. If you are going for the pure Vegas spectacle, the MGM still delivers the scale. However, the minor upkeep issues really detract from the overall feeling of luxury. I spent a lot of money, and while the rooms were beautiful, the feeling was slightly dated in places. Maybe they need a massive refresh to justify the current price point against newer competitors.

I agree about the upkeep. I noticed some wear and tear on the carpets in the main walkways, and some of the public restrooms looked like they hadn't seen a deep clean in weeks. For a hotel charging top-tier rates, the maintenance needs to be flawless. It's these small details that really signal quality, and MGM missed the mark there this time.

I think you underestimate the 'full Vegas experience' part. While it's huge, the entertainment options feel a little predictable now. You can get a similar level of fun, maybe even better, at other resorts that are more focused on a specific theme. The value proposition is getting weaker.

Honestly, the value was worth it because we were celebrating a major anniversary. The sheer convenience of having everything under one roof, from the dining to the shows, made planning effortless. Even with the service hiccups, the overall atmosphere and the beautiful rooms made it feel special, and that's priceless.
