I've been a Eurobonus Gold member for a few years now, and while the status is great, I feel like I might be leaving some value on the table. I'm trying to figure out the absolute best strategy for accumulating points without spending excessive money. Does anyone have experience with specific credit cards or partners that offer disproportionately high point multipliers? I'm particularly interested in knowing if it's better to focus on maximizing points for flights or if accumulating them for hotel stays yields a better return on investment. Any advanced tips or recent changes to the earning structure would be hugely appreciated.

Have you looked into the specific airline partners? Sometimes the direct transfer rates are much better than just using the points for the flight itself.

Honestly, I think focusing on high-spend categories like gas stations or supermarket chains via specific cards is the most efficient way to build up a massive base of points without changing my travel habits.

Short. Just use the co-branded card.

I found that accumulating points for hotels is actually a better ROI for me. I prefer the flexibility of using points for a stay rather than being locked into a specific flight route. Plus, the hotel partners often have better blackout dates.

To reply to the user who mentioned gas stations: While those points are good, they often require you to spend money you otherwise wouldn't have, which defeats the purpose of 'without spending excessive money.' I found better multipliers through travel insurance purchases linked to the card.

The recent change to the earning structure favoring premium partners was huge. Make sure you are tracking that specific bonus multiplier when you apply for a new card. It makes a massive difference.

I've been tracking this for years. The absolute best strategy is to use a combination of a high-spending credit card and booking through the Eurobonus portal directly, bypassing third-party sites entirely. It ensures you get the maximum point credit and avoids transfer fees.

Does anyone know if the points expire faster if you let them sit in a specific partner account? That's my biggest fear.

I think the best approach is diversification. Don't put all your eggs in the flight basket. Use points for a mix of hotel and flight segments to maximize flexibility.

I disagree with focusing only on cards. Sometimes, just booking a car rental through a specific partner *before* the trip generates a surprisingly high point bonus that outweighs the card benefits. Check the car rental section!

For me, it's all about the annual spending threshold. Once you hit Gold, the marginal gain from extra points starts to decrease unless you are using a card that offers a 10x multiplier on a specific type of purchase. Focus on hitting the next tier status first.

Long post: My experience suggests that the most overlooked area is dining. Many premium credit cards offer significant point multipliers at specific restaurant chains or booking platforms. If you are already eating out frequently, switching to a card that rewards dining points can generate hundreds of points monthly without feeling like a major sacrifice. I've seen a 4x multiplier on dining at certain partners, which is phenomenal for maintaining status without spending extra cash.

Reply to the dining post: That's a good point, but be careful about the fine print. Sometimes the multiplier only applies to the *bill total* and not the tip, which can significantly reduce the actual point value you receive. Always read the terms!

Just wait for the annual bonus event. That's when the real point gains happen.

I've found that pre-paying for travel insurance through the Eurobonus portal gives a decent point boost. It's a small expense, but the points earned are disproportionately high compared to the cost.
