I'm getting tired of the standard AAA releases and just want to dive into something genuinely bizarre or highly unconventional. I've played everything from intense survival horror to complex strategy games, but I need a total change of pace. I'm specifically looking for those 'crazy' indie titles that nobody talks about but are absolute gems. Do you have any suggestions for games that are weirdly fun, laugh-out-loud funny, or just totally outside the mainstream? I'm open to any genre, even if it's old or niche.

Have you checked out 'Untitled Goose Game'? It's hilariously bizarre and perfect for a change of pace. You just cause chaos, which is incredibly satisfying.

If you want truly weird, I highly recommend 'Outer Wilds'. It's less about combat and more about discovery and piecing together a cosmic mystery. It's mind-bending and beautiful.

Totally agree. The AAA grind is exhausting. Have you looked into 'Baba Is You'? It's a puzzle game where the rules themselves are the objects you manipulate. Genius.

Short list: 'Broswer' (if you dare), 'Papers, Please', and 'Disco Elysium'. None of these are standard fare.

I loved 'Kentucky Roofing'. It's a weird blend of simulation and absurdity. It's not about being good at anything, just about experiencing the ridiculousness of the premise. It really hits that 'unconventional' sweet spot.

What about 'Don't Starve'? It's survival, but the art style and the sheer desperation of the resource management make it feel very indie and unique. It's intense but not standard horror.

I think you might enjoy 'Sea of Stars'. It's a throwback RPG, but with a really charming, almost whimsical art style that feels very different from modern blockbusters. It's surprisingly deep.

Seriously, if you want funny, check out 'PlateUp!' It's a rogue-lite cooking sim. It gets chaotic fast and the co-op element is pure, unadulterated laughter. Highly recommend.

Replying to the 'Untitled Goose Game' suggestion: I played that, but I found it a bit too simple. I need something with more systemic depth, even if it's still weird. Have you considered 'RimWorld'? The emergent storytelling is unmatched.

My niche suggestion is 'Return of the Obra Dinn'. It's a deduction game where you are investigating a mysterious ship. The atmosphere is thick, and the puzzle-solving loop is incredibly addictive. It's a masterpiece of atmosphere.

I'm going to suggest 'Dwarf Fortress'. Be warned, it is a massive time sink and has a steep learning curve, but the depth of its simulated world is unparalleled. It's the definition of unconventional.

Replying to the 'Disco Elysium' mention: Oh man, yes. That game is a literary achievement. The sheer amount of dialogue and the way it handles internal monologue is unlike anything else in gaming. Prepare to read a lot.

Have you tried 'The Stanley Parable'? It's meta-fiction in gaming. It makes you question the nature of choice and narrative structure. It's short, but incredibly profound and funny.

For pure absurdity, try 'Totally Accurate Battle Simulator'. It's just hilarious watching poorly modeled units fight each other. It requires zero skill, just a sense of humor.

If you're open to old games, look into 'Punch-Out!!' (SNES version). It's simple, but the gameplay mechanics and the sheer joy of knocking out ridiculous opponents are timeless and delightfully weird.

Replying to the 'RimWorld' suggestion: It's great, but sometimes the sheer amount of micro-management can be overwhelming. If you like the simulation aspect but want something slightly more contained, maybe 'Oxygen Not Included'? It's complex, but focused on system survival.

I found 'Baba Is You' fantastic, but if you want something even more abstract, look into 'The Witness'. It's a puzzle game set on a mysterious island, and the way the puzzles gradually introduce new rules is brilliant.

Honestly, I'd recommend 'VA-11 Hall-A: Cyberpunk Bartender Action'. It's a narrative gem. You are a bartender in a dystopian future, and the conversations are deep, strange, and incredibly well-written. Perfect for a mood.

I think the key word here is 'experiential'. Have you looked into any narrative adventure games that rely heavily on reading and atmosphere rather than action? That's where the true gems are hiding.
