I spent a full day at Harrington over the weekend, and honestly, I'm not sure where to start. I started by betting a little at the casino, which was fine, but the real highlight was watching the raceway action. The facilities seem pretty good, but I was wondering if anyone has tips for maximizing the day. For instance, is it better to park near the raceway entrance or the main casino entrance? Also, are the food options really worth the price, or should I bring a picnic? Overall, it was fun, but I'd love some local insights on making the most of the combined venue.

I found the combined experience really seamless. The transition from the casino buzz to the quiet excitement of the raceway was perfect. I recommend allocating at least half a day just for the track action, even if you plan on gambling later. The facilities are modern, which is a huge plus, but be prepared for crowds, especially on weekends. Parking is manageable, but definitely arrive early to avoid the worst of the traffic snarls.

Definitely park closer to the raceway. It saves you a lot of walking and you can get settled in before the first race starts. The main casino entrance is a bit of a trek if you're focused on the track.

Honestly, for lunch, a picnic is a lifesaver. The food court options are overpriced and very limited. Grab some sandwiches or snacks from a local store before you go in. It saves money and lets you eat at your own pace while watching the races.

If you are maximizing the day, treat the raceway as the primary event. Start there. Watch a couple of races, then move over to the casino when you are ready for the gambling aspect. Don't try to do everything at once, or you will burn out. Also, check the schedule online beforehand; knowing when the big races are happening helps plan your day.

I agree about the raceway parking. It is much less stressful and you can get your bearings right away. It's worth the slight detour.

The best part is the atmosphere. It's a great mix of old-school excitement and modern luxury. I spent a few hours just wandering the casino floor, but the raceway definitely provided the main entertainment. I found the viewing areas excellent, with good sightlines for all the major races.

I think the food is okay, but not worth the premium price. I had a decent burger, but it felt like I paid for the location, not the quality. Bringing a cooler with drinks and snacks is definitely the way to go. You save money and you eat better.

Tip: Try to arrive right when the raceway opens. You can scope out the best seats and get a feel for the crowd before the rush hits. It makes the whole experience feel much more relaxed and enjoyable.

Seriously, plan for a full day. Don't just pop in for an afternoon. The raceway action is the star, but the casino has its own rhythm. I suggest spending the morning at the track, having lunch near the raceway, and then moving to the casino in the late afternoon. This pacing prevents fatigue and allows you to enjoy both sides of the operation.

That pacing advice is spot on. I tend to get overwhelmed trying to jump between the casino and the track too quickly. Breaking it up makes it feel much more manageable and fun.

My biggest takeaway is that the raceway is the main draw. The casino is secondary entertainment. Focus your energy and your budget on the races, and the rest of the experience will feel much more cohesive and worthwhile.
