I spent a weekend at the MGM Grand last month, and I was really torn about the value. I booked a room in the newer section, and while the aesthetics are definitely modern and impressive, the service felt a bit disjointed. The pool area was fantastic, and the buffet was top-notch, but the room service seemed slow and overpriced. Has anyone stayed there recently, especially in the new wing? I'm trying to figure out if the upgrade in luxury justifies the potential dip in personalized service compared to their older rooms. Any tips on which restaurants are worth the splurge?

I went last fall, and I agree with your feeling about the service. The new wing is stunning, no doubt, but it feels like they prioritized aesthetics over operational efficiency. I found the room itself was gorgeous, but getting anything done required calling multiple times. It definitely felt like a premium price for an incomplete experience.

Totally agree about the room service. It was glacial.

I stayed in the new section last month, and the room was breathtaking. It really feels like an upgrade in luxury, especially the bathroom fixtures and views. However, you hit the nail on the head regarding the service. It's inconsistent. Sometimes the bellhop is amazing, and other times, you feel like you're dealing with minimum wage staff who are just going through the motions. It's a huge gamble.

For a splurge, definitely try Carbone. It's worth the pre-booking hassle.

I found that the service dip is most noticeable during peak times, like Saturday night. The staff seemed overwhelmed. I think it's less about the wing and more about staffing levels overall. Maybe avoid major holidays if you want better personalized attention.

Don't let the service issues scare you off entirely. The pool area alone is worth the trip. The sheer scale and design of the pool complex are unmatched in Vegas right now. If you're coming primarily for the amenities and the 'wow' factor, the new wing delivers that beautifully.

Skip the room service entirely. Eat at the ground floor restaurants instead. Saves time and money.

My experience was mixed. The room was immaculate and the view from the new wing was spectacular. But I agree about the service being disjointed. I found the buffet excellent, but I wouldn't recommend the high-end dining unless you have a specific craving. For a good balance of luxury and value, I suggest booking a package that includes breakfast and maybe a spa credit, rather than just the room rate. That helps mitigate the feeling of being 'just a room' and adds a structured element to the stay.

Carbone is expensive, yes, but the atmosphere and quality of the food make it an experience you won't forget. You have to go. It's worth the splurge, even if the service elsewhere is lacking.

Go on a weekday. Weekends are chaos. The service issues are amplified when everyone is trying to do everything at once. You'll get a much better feel for the actual quality of the staff and the room without the party distraction.

The pool is fantastic, but book a day pass for the pool area only if you want to avoid the hotel costs. It's a great way to test the waters without committing to the whole hotel stay.

Honestly, I think the luxury justifies it, provided you manage your expectations regarding service. The sheer quality of the materials and the views are top-tier. Just plan ahead for dining reservations and don't rely on room service.
