I booked a weekend stay at Hotel Okada last month and it was beautiful, but I feel like I missed some key parts of the resort. I was wondering if anyone who has been there recently could offer some advice. Should I book the spa treatments in advance, or are they usually available last minute? Also, for the kids' activities, what time of day is generally the busiest and most fun? Any recommendations for local restaurants that are worth the drive from the hotel would also be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance for your help!

Definitely book the spa treatments ahead of time. It gets packed, especially on weekends. I recommend the hot stone massage.

For the kids' activities, the late afternoon, around 3-5 PM, is usually the sweet spot. They have a dedicated zone then that is super fun and less crowded than the morning.

Regarding local food, you absolutely must try 'Oki-ya' in the nearby town. It's a bit of a drive, but the fresh seafood ramen is unmatched. Worth the trip!

I found the resort's internal cycle path really relaxing. It's a great way to spend an hour without leaving the property. Don't forget to rent bikes!

Are you thinking of visiting during peak season? If so, everything, including the spa, should be booked weeks in advance. Seriously, plan ahead.

I agree with the spa advice. I booked my treatment 3 weeks out and it was perfect. Last minute booking was a nightmare.

The best thing about Okada is actually the sunset view from the main pool area. Just bring a blanket and relax there for an hour. It's free and beautiful.

For dinner, skip the resort restaurants once you get a feel for the area. There's a fantastic izakaya just two blocks away that serves amazing local beer and skewers.

The kids' area is busiest in the morning when everyone is fresh. If you want a calmer experience, aim for right after lunch, maybe 1:30 PM.

I think the spa is wonderful, but maybe try the thermal bath experience instead? It's more relaxing and less intense than a full massage. It's a unique Okada experience.

If you're looking for a local restaurant, check out 'Mizuho.' It's known for its traditional local sweets and matcha desserts. It's a quick stop.

I had a completely different experience with the spa. I went on a Tuesday and it was surprisingly quiet, so booking a little further out might give you better flexibility.

The resort is massive. Wear comfortable shoes and plan to walk a lot. Don't try to see everything in one day; pace yourselves!

The kids' activities are great, but the supervised craft sessions are the highlight. They run every day at 10 AM and 2 PM. Check the daily schedule board.

Totally agree about the local food. The drive to the coastal town is worth it just for the fresh catch. Make sure to ask the restaurant for the 'of the day' special.

Tip: Use the hotel shuttle to get around the main campus. It saves a ton of walking energy, especially after a long day of exploring.

Don't underestimate the local markets outside the resort. You can buy amazing souvenirs and snacks that feel much more authentic than anything sold inside the hotel.

I recommend booking the spa package that includes a consultation. They tailor it to your needs, which makes a huge difference. It's worth the extra cost.
