My partner and I spent a weekend at MT Airy last month and had a really mixed experience. The resort itself is beautiful and the grounds are lovely, but I was hoping for a more upscale dining experience. The room service was quite slow, and the breakfast buffet felt a little overpriced for what was offered. I'm curious if anyone who has stayed recently has had better luck with the restaurant selection? Maybe there are some hidden gems or local spots nearby that are worth checking out instead of sticking only to the resort's internal dining.

I agree about the buffet. It felt like a lot of effort for mediocre food. Stick to the local spots!

Room service was a huge letdown for us too. We waited almost an hour for simple appetizers. Maybe try calling the front desk to coordinate delivery times instead of just ordering online?

If you are looking for something upscale, skip the resort restaurants entirely. We drove about 15 minutes to a place called The Copper Kettle downtown. It has amazing seasonal menus and the atmosphere is much more refined than anything on the property. Also, check out 'The Bistro' near the main square; it's fantastic for a nice dinner, and they have great wine pairings. For a quick, high-quality lunch, try the little taco stand on Elm Street. Seriously, the local scene is miles better than the resort dining.

Overpriced, definitely.

You should definitely check out The Copper Kettle. We went last month and it was perfect. Their steak selection is top-notch, and it was a huge upgrade from the resort's main dining hall. Don't forget to book a reservation, though, as it gets busy.

We tried the Italian place inside the resort, and while the ambiance was nice, the pasta was bland. Honestly, I think the resort restaurants are designed more for convenience than for culinary excellence. If you want a real experience, plan an outing to the surrounding town.

Oh man, slow service is the worst. I had a similar experience where my order got mixed up, and then they had to remake it. It really killed the mood. You might need to call and ask for a manager to handle the timing issue.

For a full weekend, I recommend a mix. Start with a nice, leisurely brunch at a local cafe (I found one near the river that was divine). For dinner, if you want to stay on-site, try the Asian fusion spot; it was surprisingly good. But for the best overall experience, plan one night out in the main downtown area. It makes the trip feel more like a getaway and less like an all-inclusive bubble.

The views from the balcony were worth the cost, even if the food was just okay.

Thanks for the tip on The Copper Kettle. I was worried about driving out, but I appreciate the local knowledge. Are there any good dessert spots nearby, too? I'm always looking for a sweet treat!

My partner and I ate at the resort's fine dining establishment on Saturday night. It was beautiful, the service was attentive, and the main courses were perfectly prepared. While the price point is definitely high, the quality of the ingredients and the presentation made it feel worth it. It was a special occasion dinner, so I forgive the slower room service for that night.

Honestly, just enjoy the casino and the amenities. Don't stress too much about the dining options; it's just a resort.
