My partner and I spent a weekend at MT Airy last month and had a really mixed experience. The resort itself is beautiful and the grounds are lovely, but I was hoping for a more upscale dining experience. The room service was quite slow, and the breakfast buffet felt a little overpriced for what was offered. I'm curious if anyone who has stayed recently has had better luck with the restaurant selection? Maybe there are some hidden gems or local spots nearby that are worth checking out instead of sticking only to the resort's internal dining.

If you are looking for something upscale, skip the resort restaurants entirely. We drove about 15 minutes to a place called The Copper Kettle downtown. It has amazing seasonal menus and the atmosphere is much more refined than anything on the property. Also, check out 'The Bistro' near the main square; it's fantastic for a nice dinner, and they have great wine pairings. For a quick, high-quality lunch, try the little taco stand on Elm Street. Seriously, the local scene is miles better than the resort dining.

We tried the Italian place inside the resort, and while the ambiance was nice, the pasta was bland. Honestly, I think the resort restaurants are designed more for convenience than for culinary excellence. If you want a real experience, plan an outing to the surrounding town.

For a full weekend, I recommend a mix. Start with a nice, leisurely brunch at a local cafe (I found one near the river that was divine). For dinner, if you want to stay on-site, try the Asian fusion spot; it was surprisingly good. But for the best overall experience, plan one night out in the main downtown area. It makes the trip feel more like a getaway and less like an all-inclusive bubble.

My partner and I ate at the resort's fine dining establishment on Saturday night. It was beautiful, the service was attentive, and the main courses were perfectly prepared. While the price point is definitely high, the quality of the ingredients and the presentation made it feel worth it. It was a special occasion dinner, so I forgive the slower room service for that night.
