I spent a whole Saturday at the MGM Grand and was really impressed with the atmosphere, but I wanted to get some local opinions on the actual gaming floor. I spent most of my time on the newer slot banks near the main entrance, and they seemed much more engaging than the older machines I remember. Has anyone noticed a big difference in the payout rates lately, or is it just me? I'm planning a return trip soon and want to make sure I'm targeting the best areas for play. Any advice on which specific machine types are worth checking out would be greatly appreciated!

I noticed the same thing. The new banks definitely feel slicker and more modern. I played on the Mega Millions slot and it seemed pretty generous this trip.

Honestly, I think the perceived payout rate is often tied to how much play is happening. If the floor is busy, the machines seem to pay out more, or maybe that's just wishful thinking. I spent a solid evening on the older machines and they were fine, nothing revolutionary.

Check out the area near the high limit machines, but be prepared for big losses. They are definitely the 'best' if you are chasing big wins.

Totally agree about the atmosphere. It's a huge part of the experience. I found the new 'Lightning Link' style machines were really engaging, even if the jackpots weren't huge.

I think you might be noticing a difference in the machine types, not necessarily the payout rate itself. The newer ones often have more bonus rounds and features that make them feel more rewarding, even if the RTP is similar to the older models. I recommend looking up specific machine reviews online before you go.

The ones near the main entrance are great, but don't forget the secondary wings. Sometimes the machines further away from the main thoroughfare are less crowded and might offer a different vibe. Give them a shot!

Reply to the Lightning Link comment: Are they really worth it? I played three different ones last month and only got small wins. I think the hype is a little much.

I found the 'Fortune Star' series to be the most consistent. They aren't the flashiest, but they pay out reliably over a long session. Don't ignore the reliable workhorses!

Payout rates fluctuate constantly, man. Don't get fixated on one specific area. The key is knowing when to take a break and reset your focus. It's more about your bankroll management than the machine itself.

I agree with the 'Fortune Star' user. Reliability is key. I spent a whole night just on those and had a solid return without any massive rollercoaster drops. Highly recommend them for a steady play.

If you are looking for pure entertainment value, the ones with the video features and animations are unbeatable. It makes the time fly, which is half the battle when you're gambling.

The older machines still have their charm, don't let the new flashy ones scare you away from them entirely. Sometimes the simplicity is what you need for a good session.
