Has anyone worked with Mr. Pacho on the 'Crimson Tide' project before?

I'm starting to put together the pitch for the next phase of the Crimson Tide initiative, and I remember hearing great things about Mr. Pacho's organizational skills and technical knowledge. I'm trying to gauge his current availability and if his rates have changed since the last round of development. Specifically, I need someone who understands both the legacy code base and modern cloud deployment methods. Could those who have collaborated with him give me an honest assessment of his reliability and ability to meet tight deadlines? Any insight would be hugely appreciated before I approach him directly.

I worked with him about three years ago on a related initiative. He definitely has the legacy code knowledge you need, but be prepared for some pushback on timelines. He tends to over-engineer things.

His rates are high, but the quality is there. We used him for the initial cloud migration phase, and it went smoothly. Worth the investment.

I had a terrible experience. Communication was a nightmare. Do not hire him if deadlines are tight.

I agree with the poster. He's excellent with both old systems and modern deployments. Just confirm his current availability via a formal contract, as he was booked solid last quarter.

Be careful about the 'Crimson Tide' name. It was a massive undertaking, and the scope creep was brutal. Pacho handled the architecture, but the project management was a mess.

Regarding rates, they increased significantly after the last round. I'd suggest getting a detailed quote covering both the legacy maintenance and the cloud setup, rather than just a flat rate.

Did you ask him about containerization? That was his weak spot. He was great with the monolith, but the microservices transition was painful.

He's brilliant, truly. He fixed a core issue in the legacy database that we thought was unsolvable. However, he needs clear, structured requirements upfront. He thrives on complexity.

I found him very professional. He was meticulous about testing and documentation, which is crucial when dealing with older code bases. I'd recommend him.

Reply to the previous poster: Yes, definitely check on the containerization. He struggled with Kubernetes specifically. Stick to AWS Lambda functions if possible.

His organizational skills are top-notch, no doubt. He keeps everything documented and traceable. Just make sure you define the project boundaries extremely clearly before starting.

I think you need to talk to someone who worked on the initial requirements gathering. Pacho is a fantastic implementer, but he isn't the best at defining the 'why' behind the features.

If you are dealing with extremely tight deadlines, maybe look at a team approach instead of relying solely on him. He is brilliant, but he can get bogged down in optimization loops.

He's available, but only if the scope is limited to the API layer. The full stack integration is too much for one engagement.

I had to push back on his rates multiple times. They are expensive, but his understanding of the interplay between the old mainframe systems and modern cloud APIs is unmatched. It's a specialized skill set.

Reply to the poster: I'd say his reliability is high, provided the project manager keeps him focused. He gets distracted by interesting technical rabbit holes. Keep a strict agenda.

He was phenomenal for the data modeling phase. The transition from relational to NoSQL was seamless because of his expertise. Highly recommend for data architecture.

I heard he is currently consulting for a competitor. You might have better luck finding someone else, unless you are prepared for a very high retainer fee.

I'd caution you about the rates. They are premium, yes, but the value he brings to bridging the gap between legacy and modern tech stacks is immense. It's a niche expertise.
