I'm renovating my living room and I'm seriously considering Schpile flooring because I love the look of the distressed wood finish. However, I live in a house with pets and we get a lot of foot traffic, so I'm worried about durability. Has anyone installed this in a high-wear area like an entryway or a main living space? I'd really appreciate any feedback on how it holds up over time, especially with daily scuffs and scratches. Any tips on maintenance or sealing would be super helpful before I commit to buying it.

I used Schpile in my entryway. It's beautiful, but you absolutely need a high-quality sealant. Otherwise, the finish will dull fast with daily traffic.

It looks amazing in photos, but durability is a huge concern for us with two large dogs. I'd recommend checking with a professional installer who specializes in pet-friendly flooring. They might have specific recommendations for protective coatings.

Short answer: Be careful. It's gorgeous, but the distressed finish makes scratches really visible. We had to add runners and mats everywhere to protect it.

I installed it in a high-traffic area, and honestly, I wish I hadn't. The scuffs from furniture dragging were noticeable within six months. We ended up adding a durable area rug over the worst spots, which helped immensely.

Totally agree with the sealant advice. I recommend a polyurethane finish specifically designed for hardwood that can handle moisture and abrasion. It makes a noticeable difference in how long the finish lasts.

My experience was mixed. It's durable enough for normal living, but if you have kids who play rough, you need to be prepared for touch-ups. The cost of maintenance is high.

If you are worried about pets, maybe look into engineered hardwood with a very tough, sealed finish instead. Schpile is beautiful, but its natural distressed look is its weakness when it comes to daily wear and tear.

I think the initial cost is offset by the look, but definitely budget for professional sealing and maybe a couple of replacement planks down the line. It's a commitment.

Replying to the sealant advice: I used a professional grade sealant, and it really helped. It made the wood look deeper and seemed to resist minor scuffs much better than the original finish. Definitely worth the extra expense.

I'd suggest getting a warranty that specifically covers pet damage. Otherwise, you are just gambling on the longevity of the distressed finish.
